There’s an Arabic inscription that captures the essence of Granada in a few words: “There is nothing so sad as to be blind in Granada.” The perspicacity of this declaration becomes obvious as soon as you penetrate the austere walls of the Alhambra and take in the full majesty of the architecture, carvings and fountains of the Nasrid palaces. Your ticket (which should be bought well in advance following the instructions on the attraction’s website) also affords entry to the Renaissance Palace of Carlos V and to the exquisite gardens of the Generalife. If you are celebrating a special event, or are in the market for a splurge, you can stay in the lovely Parador, right on site. Make your way down into the city via the atmospheric old quarter of the Albaicin, with its tiny craft shops and restaurants, and head for the Cathedral and Royal Chapel. Also plan a visit to the crypt for the tombs of Ferdinand and Isabella, the instigators of Spain’s imperial adventures to the New World and beyond. It’s worth making the short journey out of town to visit the Monasterio Cartuja, a fabulous Carthusian monastery in the baroque style. Admirers of the poet Lorca should make the effort to visit the Casa-Museo Federico Garcia Lorca in Fuente Vaqueros, about 11 miles from the city centre.

La Posada is a place designed for the traveler leisure. The tranquility in each of its corners make you unwind and relax while you enjoy your stay in Granada. It has five rooms, all exclusively handcrafted and created.
This small hotel is high up in the Albaicin in a tiny side street. Taxis will drop you off at the end of the street and it a hairy experience as they navigate the tiny streets and tight corners! It has a lovely patio where a complimentary typically Spanish breakfast is served each morning. We had a room with a small shared patio from which there was a view if you stood of the Alhambra and the distant Sierra Nevada. The main patio serving all the rooms was lovely and a peaceful place to sit with many flowering shrubs. Our room was small but beautifully furnished and very quiet to sleep. The owner Ainhoa was fabulous and with Carmen, gave a very personal service; I was recovering from a broken ankle and the steep cobbled streets were not easy for me (note for anyone with mobility issues). Ainhoa recommended nearby fabulous restaurants and how we should see Granada in my circumstances and called us taxis which were so cheap and quick to come. I thoroughly recommend this as somewhere to stay.

El Secreto del Olivo is a 17th Century senorial or manor house that has been converted into a cosy boutique hotel, situated in the Lecrin Valley. This beautiful valley unfolds to the South of the city of Granada, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, descending towards the Costa Tropical The tranquil interior invites calm and relaxation with a central Andalusian courtyard with bathes in light each of the 10 ample individually styled bedrooms. Each one enjoying it's own ensuite bathroom and complimentary bathing products. Breakfast can be taken in the dining room, the courtyard, or on the terrace in the fresh air. The shady pergola of the roof terrace provides spectacular panoramic views of Sierra Nevada from comfy sofas. In Winter a log fire burns in the cosy lounge. Under floor heating and hot water are provided by our olive stone biomass boiler and solar panels. There is free WIFI throughout the property. A visit to the local olive mill in Niguelas where you will learn about the collection and pressing process, and where you can try our own ecological olive oil. The owners of El Secreto del Olivo, Ignacio, personally supervise the day to day running of the hotel with their friendly staff to make your stay at El Secreto del Olivo a happy one.
Hidden in Niguelas is the perfect little romantic getaway. Old style with modern twists. Good nights sleep although some traffic noise as commuters set off for work. Simple breakfast, just right. Best of all no tv in room .

Two night stay on half-board. Room was very nice, beds comfortable, heating worked well. Fridge in the room is a bonus. Nice terrace. Bathroom also good, nice quality towels. Both breakfast and lunch were delicious. Local products used by the chef. All the staff were friendly and helpful. My Mother is on crutches, so the lift to the accommodation was a real help. Bought a bag of oranges from them to take home, and they are so good. We have re-booked.

We went to have a dinner there with some friends, the service was excellent, and food completely amazing in this unique environment. I highly recommend that if you can’t enjoy the night at the cave but you pass nearly please try the food at the restaurant, specially the rabbit pate and risotto, we live in London and can tell you that is one of the best I ate in my live. We have a holiday home in the village opposite and this hotel is really handy to have so close for meals and drinks. The staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome. There is a lovely waiter who speaks excellent English and always seems happy to help. They serve a large selection of food of excellent quality. The last time we were there they had live music and we had a fantastic time. There is also an outside area which is lovely in the summer. Definitely worth a visit and can't wait to return in two weeks.

Apartments Balcon del Cielo is a revolutionary combination of accommodation, rest and enjoyment of the environment. We provide an experience that allows our guests to enjoy our commitment with the sustainability and the excellence of the place. We are located near Trevelez, in Sierra Nevada's Natural Park. A place that has a singular and natural beauty and plenty of resources. The single history and the culture of the Alpujarra add to the protected situation of vital importance that the region maintains. We are a small and independent family business. We are able to accommodate you with delicate personal attention and make you enjoy a perfect stay.
El Balcon del Cielo is about 7 Kms outside Trevelez set in the most beautiful countryside. This is our third visit to La Alpurnnas, our previous one were in the Lanjarron area but we have found the most glorious place. The apartments are built in beautiful stone and fit in with the area. Ours consisted of two bedrooms, sitting/dining area, small kitchenette and shower room. It was immaculately clean and comfy. There were plenty of comfy sofas to sit on outside both in the sun and the shade. The icing on the cake are Pilar and Ramon. They always go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. All that and three children under 6! There is an excellent swimming pool filled by a mountain spring, very refreshing. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, even for the weekend, I can not think of a better place to go to. 110% Recommendation It is so good, we have booked for next year.
