Things to do in Monfalcone

We stayed in Portopiccolo and had driven by this restaurant a couple of times while in the area. After a long day in Piran, we decided to give this place a try as it looked fun and interesting. We arrived just after a large rain storm so the tables outside were very wet. There was no one out there yet; and the staff assisted with giving us some napkins to wipe down the table and seating. We ordered beers and something to eat. The service was ok; the food was decent but not incredible. It worked for what we needed; but wasn't spectacular. I recall that the bathrooms need some upgrading and they were quite smelly when we used them; they definitely need an improvement. Doubtful I would return when back in the area; but it wasn't awful either.

I had eaten a lot of meat, so went for the plate of grilled vegetables and it was very good. Their potato salad is the best I have ever tasted. The following evening I was back on the meat and tried the wurst with potato salad - a large plateful, which was delicious and good value. A place to meet up with friends. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

How odd to be addressed, on walking in, not in Italian but in French. Given my height and colouring, I might have expected German, if not English... but then, as I entered the open-roofed garden room where we were to have lunch, I saw the immense travel poster for Mauritius. Ah, I thought -- will they offer something special, then? No. Nothing special. A decent fritto misto, a decent spaghetti con vongole, and a rather disappointing antipasto of hot and cold seafood salad -- breadcrumbs, garlic, and butter made most of the hot items taste the same -- not an item to recommend. Oh, well. Usual pricing, affable service. If you lived within a few blocks of the Alla Fortuna, you would have no reason at all not to make this your restaurant. But if, like us, you happened upon it during a Sunday of excursions, you would not next Sunday turn to your partner, saying, "It's only a half-an-hour on the motorway... Remember that little place in Monfalcone? Shall we pop down there again?"

It's got a nice decor and the menu is limited. But, the food is generous and wholesome - you won't leave hungry, and it won't cost you a lot either. It's a good place to hang out, drink and eat.

The food is just so delicious, very honest price. You have a variety of fish and meat dishes, deserts are just too good. It is in a marina by the canal, I prefer eating outside as the view is just so beautiful. I would definately return, no doubt!!!Highly recommended.

We visited this agritourism restaurant on the recommendation of the friend who is a local. It was a bit hard to find (we passed by it 2 items until on the 3rd time we spotted the sign leading to this tiny street with not enough parking space). The parking is a problem, as you have to find the space in the main street. The terrace was nice, so I imagine it is quite comfortable in the summer. Indoor seating area lacks atmosphere. Food is average, really. Nice thing was the pumpkin bread - other types of bread are also quite good, as they are home-made. As antipasto, we opted for the large plate of mixed salami, and pickled veggies, accompanied with a glass of Terrano (red wine) - and that was excellent. Then we had pasta: pumpkin gnocchi with butter and sage (gnocchi di zucca con burro e salvia), bread gnocchi with mushrooms, and lasagne. The first one was interesting, and decisively the best of all three. Other ones were just... average, plain, really. Then, main dish: mixed plate of grilled meat, with patate in tecia and sauerkraut - less than average. Dessert: we chose tiramisu and yogurt cream cup. Not bad, both of them. They have their own vine, and although we tried the their Chardonnay, it was somehow too sour and it didn't accompany the pasta dishes very well - while the red wine Terrano was of very good quality. The service was slow (the restaurant was full, and I noticed that mainly jota and patate in tecia were ordered, rarely something else), but friendly. The price was average for this area (3 of us and 60 ⬠total), but I don't think I will be visiting them again. The local, rustic, countryside taste of the food and atmosphere was just... missing.

It looks like one of those palces you expect to find in almost any marina. Parking is just outside the door. Nice interior decor, simple forniture, self-service type of restaurant. Quality of food is high, service is acceptable if you understand that it is not a classic-style restaurant. Adriana, the chef, makes every dish with fresh ingredients, not only using freshly caught fish but also with beef and vegetables. Moderately priced, as expected. Full on week-ends, better make a reservation.
Where to eat Seafood food in Monfalcone: The Best Restaurants and Bars

We were tgere for the anniversary dinner. It was our first visit . The restaurant offers outdoor tables and a traditional interiors dining room (very clean). There is a wide selection of tasting menu (they looked very tasty and complete!) We choose squids-sea scallops starters/sea fruit rice as a first course /seabass-turbots as second course. Everything was very good but we want to highlight that the rice was simply great (the sea fruits were mixed and not visible in pieces) and the turbots were three nice fishes deliciously cooked on the hotplate. Quality/price extremely good.Smiling service staff. Enjoy!

This small but very cosy restaurant proposes very good home made pasta specialities but also other dishes. Following the recommendation of the very nice service lady we took pastas of the day and a special mixed started plate. All was really excellent food and nicely decorated on the plate. The red house wine that she recommended was also very nice! A restaurant to go back again!
