Things to do in Ischitella
Momò Burger & Bistrot is a gastronomic project, in an extraordinary land, combining traditional dishes and flavors from Campania with typical Apulian foodstuffs.

The very personable chef/owner Matteo has created a real winner here. This is deservedly No. 1. My wife and I love eating in as many different places as we can when on vacation (especially in Italy!) but we had to return to La Taverna two nights in a row.You are eating in a beautifully renovated/recreated basement cave, with seating on three different levels. Tables were nicely spaced and it was a very nice ambiance (if, perhaps, just a bit too brightly lit). It sure was a sparkling white cave on a winding pedestrian street in the heart of Peschici's ancient centro storico. The first night we splurged on the divine crudites di mare for two. Very generous platter of raw oysters (4), shrimp (2), mussels (6), clams (10-12) and tuna served two different ways. Best appetizer in 17 nights in southern Italy. We followed it with a whole sea bass that we asked Matteo to cook as her saw fit. It was roasted in olive oil and garlic with thinly sliced potatoes and olives. It melted in our mouths - roasted just enough and still super moist. Next nights we shared a pasta primi followed once again by a whole roasted fish, this time dorado.La Taverna has a nice selection of wines (we had a recommended Puglia white that we enjoyed) and were pleased to see that Matteo encourages wines with the meal (i.e. not too much markup on the wine list). Both nights we were happy to cap the meal with Matteo's own limoncello. Again, best of the entire trip. Both nights were just excellent meals. The restaurant is pricey. The seafood is the freshest and having the whole roasted fish boosted the price even more. Both nights were over 100E which was the most we spent on the entire trip. And, in my opinion, when compared to what one would pay for comparable freshness and quality (not to mention the very enjoyable atmosphere and charming Matteo) in the U.S., worth every euro of it.Not cheap, but a very highly recommended "splurge."
