This is truly an exceptional find in a small Italian village. The atmosphere is a combination of fine dining and the feeling that you are with family. The hostess/server was wonderful. I knew just enough Italian and she knew just enough English that we were able to order. Chef Maria also visited with us to explain several dishes and to offer alternatives if we did not wish certain ingredients. The experience started when we were seated in the lovely dining room and served a cocktail and a bread soup - yes, it was a soup that tasted like fresh bread with olive oil and herbs. After this, we received our menus and sorted through many options from tasting menus to a la carte items. We chose the tasting menu of local Toscana dishes. One of the courses had liver, of which the hostess was sure to make us aware. She offered to substitute a lovely porcini mushroom salad - it was truly delicious. There were many courses, my favorite was the rabbit. We also had the wine parings. Each wine was from Tuscany and went very well with each dish. The dessert course was very surprising - a gorgonzola gelato with wafers. I enjoyed the salty/sweet/cheesy taste while my husband opted for the peach gelato version. The meal was about 125 Euros per person with the wine pairings and well worth it. This experience is for those willing to spend time over a meal - at least two hours or more - and those willing to try something different. Remember that these are local specialties, not something we are used to getting in the States. Overall this was a wonderful surprise and excellent representation of the area cuisine.

If you like authentic local food and local ambience, you will not go wrong with this place.Super friendly and helpful staff whose English was plenty good enough to take the time to explain the whole menu and recommend local wine.Went with my wife and 20 something kids and we all agreed the place was an absolute stealWe were stating the other side of San Casciano and the drive seemed a bit further than I thought it would be but well worth the driveLovely

Just enjoyed our best meal in 10 days. Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service and the food was phenomenal. This little town is a hidden gem and Ristorante Nello is fitting.

My husband and I visited with our extended family (a dozen people); several of us had visited before, years ago. Food is excellent, customer service is friendly and welcoming. There are not many tables, so be sure to make reservations! Casual, homey atmosphere. Be warned that dinner may take a while during very busy periods. It took three hours from arrival to when our first courses were served (after appetizers), and they accidentally forgot my order â by the time it arrived, the rest of the family had finished eating. BUT the food is worth the wait!

Good atmosphere, fine starters and wine, pasta for the vegetarians and a standing rib roast that almost converted those party-poopers to the carniverous life. Marco and his staff speak impeccable English and advise the guests about what size standing rib roast is right. Then the meat comes to the table, perfectly seasoned and grilledn on a litle brazier to keep it warm. This is the authentic bistecca alla fiorentina, not the nonsense in silly portions that the tourists have. Make sure to leave a little room for the sides (you order them separately) and lots for the desert. Many many thanks for yr beautiful review!Marco and Silvia
