So a little story...I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mayo for a friends 40th. Now when my friends and myself get together our blood type slowly turns to bourbon, our livers turn into sponges and fathers lock up their daughters and this occasion was no different! So what has this got to do with THE CLOCK TAVERN? Well as it happens we fell through the door to THE CLOCK TAVERN following a 40th celebratory dinner. At this stage I was well pished, not a woman was not flirted with, not a drink not imbibed in this awesome watering hole! It wasn't long until I noticed that my phone battery had died! How is one to take women phone numbers with a dead phone? Write it down? This is not 1998 mate, no way!! So I asked the awesome barman would he mind charging my phone for me and with a flirty wink he grabbed my phone and rammed his charger into it, sending electricity through it, charging!I went back to my mates whereby I got steadily drunker! However I must stress I was not drunk in a "I go to meetings" or I was wearing a string vest kinda way, I was in jovial mood and the fun was being had! It was at this stage that I realised that I had lost my phone, yes lost it! For I was so drunk that I did to realise that ten mins earlier I had asked the flirty barman to charge my phone for me! I am a logical sort so I figured if its gone then its gone, if its found I can locate it on find my iPhone app so I decided to forget about it and enjoy the night in the awesome THE CLOCK TAVERN!! I will skip the part where we went to another bar, that would be a lousy thing to do here!Anyways I woke up the next day in the bath tub of the hotel room, a very VERY sore thumb and a banging hangover....oh and no damn phone!Anyways I went to the family home that day with no phone, chilled for a day, calling THE CLOCK TAVERN but there was no answer. Turns out that the staff work so hard at night that they sleep during the day, weird eh!! Anyways I reached out to them on Facebook and I got a reply form Micheal. Not sure if Michael was the flirty barman, we may never know! Anyways Michaeal said my phone had not been found as yet, 24 hours later or there about. I saw that it had not been turned on when I checked the find my iPhone App so I reckoned it was still in the bar somewhere. So the next day I parted for the airport to catch my flight back to London. I got to the airport and when I connected to the WIFI I got a message from flirty Mick at THE CLOCK TAVERN to say that they found my phone and he will mail it to me in London! So what I am trying to say is that if you ever want to get sh*tfaced and lose a phone and be sure that its returned to you then I can recommend nowhere better than THE CLOCK TAVERN in Westport!!Also they have a great selection of drinks, a nice smoking/flirting area, sound locals and phone charging facilities :)Also if you mentioned this review you get 10% of your drink!!

Expect cocktails and bites at the bar, local food at the table, and Clew Bay views from the window. With menus created by award winning head chef Seamus Commons, who is recognised as one of Connaught's best chefs, the dishes reflect his philosophy of fres
We arrived for a stay in Knockranny after driving from Belfast..we ordered open sandwiches in the Brehon Bar which were really good. My open ham and cheese ( 3large slices of delicious homemade wheaten bread) with lots of cheese and ham! Really we would have shared had we known the portions were so generous! Needless to say we ate and we enjoyed every bite! Staff are attentive, efficient, and friendly while remaining unobtrusive!

I would have given it 5 stars for our first meal except for the very poor service. The waitstaff is obviously not trained in customer service and how to even smile at the customers. We waited forever for our water and coke. But we loved the food so we went back the next day. But this time the food was not as good. The fish and chips were perfect the first day but was almost burnt the second day. I heard there are new owners and that the place used to be great. The new owners need to realize how important good customer service is or they will quickly lose all the good recommendations they have.

My wife and I enjoyed a great evening at An File. The live music was fantastic. We arrived when it was only us and what looked like 5 friends enjoying a Guinness and playing instruments, but our private band was only private for a few minutes... people kept coming and we found ourselves in the liveliest bar in Westport

Cosy Joe's is a modern and lively bar situated right in the heart of Westport, County Mayo. A visit to Cosy Joes will always be memorable whether it's for the music, food, drink or just the good company. Cosy Joe's offers visitors a comprehensive bar food
This pub is litterally just across the street from Matt Molloys but it was bigger and I liked the idea that although that I was upstairs I could still see the band on a large screen so felt part of the action even though I was at a family table upstairs. There was a very good band playing which mixed the music with a bit of dancing also. The family really enjoyed our evening of cultural Irish entertainment along with a few drinks of course.

Premium Irish Bar in the heart of Westport town. Delicious Grub Barfood menu served daily from 12pm to 9pm. Ideal venue for celebrating functions (booking required). Live music venue with regular trad sessions from 9pm.
I can't say enough of the people that we've met while vacationing in Ireland. After finally reaching our destination we decided to go out for dinner. The muscles that I ordered were the best that I've ever tasted and my wife felt the same of her ribs. .The restaurant was closing part of it's establishment due to a wedding reception. However, they still found the necessary time to make us feel comfortable and took our order with great ease and friendliness. That being said our waitress was transplanted from Nova Scotia, Canada

were staying in hotel next door and decided to eat here on sunday night, place was still busy but service was good- lovely inside and large area outside ( if weather permits)- we had the curry which was great- not too hot and the lamb which too was excellent, the only small issue was NO mint sauce with the lamb- other than that all was excellent

A traditional style award winning bar and restaurant located just outside Westport, Co. Mayo over looking Clew Bay not far from Westport Harbourâ¦.
Made a reservation and would recommend as busy place. Ask for a table in the restaurant part not the bar area (these tables are very small and have stools). Traditional menu, the Mussels were copious and very good. Fish was a little dry though. Good food overall. The Walnut dessert was delightful. Lovely service, barman was very chatty. Wine was good and reasonable too.

This place on the sea frontage at Westport is deservedly popular. It's essential to book a table in the rather cramped dining space but service is speedy and efficient. Everything you might expect in such a popular place is on the extensive menu. My partner enjoyed her scallops and mussels and I enjoyed the home-made fish cakes (with a large fish content!) and my sole as a main course, all very tasty indeed. If you don't mind the noise associated with a very busy, traditional inn, then this is the place for you. Would go again!

Open fire's and cozy snugs await you .Locally sourced food from our award winning menu are on offer daily in the shadow of Croagh Patrick on the shores of Clew Bay. Come and visit
We recently spent 10 days in Ireland and I had the opportunity to experience seafood chowder at many locations including Dromoland Castle, Ashford Castle and at various restaurants and pubs; so the competition in comparison was high. The Tavern had the perfect blend of a great base and plenty of stock in the chowder. The taste was rich and it appeared as if I never ran out of fresh seafood in the bowl. Kudos to the chef! I'll come back here on my next trip to Ireland.Dear John W.What praise!!!! and to be mentioned within a very impressive list. Our chef is singing your comments from the roof top. Thank you so much for the lovely review. Hope it won't be too long before we offer you another tasting.....Kind RegardsRuth
