While in Moncofa we were lucky enough to experience this special menu, dedicated to the locally grown oranges - Jornadas Gastronómicas de la Naranja y la Clemenules. El Pirata was one of the restaurant in the area taking part and I am so glad we went there. The menu was amazing. I don't think I have tried better food in a very long while. Flavours were incredible and well thought through. We had salad, mussels, aubergines, fish and a dessert all with a clever addition of orange flavours. These kind of dishes need to stay on the menu for longer than just a few days as they truly reflect the flavours of the region.

Food was really good considering the price of the menu. Also the entrees were abundant. Main courses were pretty good too. Now, some of the variety from the menu was unavailable, even though it was offered to begin with; the service was really slow ( we were some of the early customers for lunch), and a sense of chaos around was the norm. After asking if there was any ketchup for the kids, we were told "of course, we'll bring to you right away", this never came since they could not find any (if they had any at all!). Coffee took more than 20' to show up after it was ordered.Quiet sad altogether, the place is nice and the food is quite good, they simply don't know hot to run it. Best if you go on weekdays, they mess up when they have more than 4 tables with customers.
