First of all I have to apologize to locals. I am disclosing the real gem they were hiding for years. My only hope nobody will disclose my real name to those locals. There is no usual sign-board, because its owners are not hunting for tourists. Try to find this name "Mas de Roures" in Google and you will understand what I mean. The restaurant is very famous for its wonderful rabbits. I tried grilled rabbit and oven-baked lamb shoulder. The shoulder won 3:2, because it was more juicy and tender, though young rabbit was very good too.Our host, wine expert, recommended red "Pago de Carraovejas", Tinto 2006, Crianza. It was powerful, full-bodied Spanish wine, a perfect match to rabbit and lamb meat.Area of Castellon famous for its ceramic tiles. This restaurant interior decorated with very good examples of those tiles. Furniture a bit dated, but you are here for food, aren't you? Should you be around Castellon (actually, around Vall d'Alba), spend some time to visit this wonderful restaurant. Having with you a Spanish phrase book is not a must, but will help a lot.

El restaurante estará cerrado por vacaciones desde el dÃa 19 de junio hasta el dÃa 1 de julio.
An amazing and almost hidden place few minutes from Castellón (Cabanes). Excellent service, very professional and friendly with a personal touch. The food is just marvelous with seasonal vegetables, fresh fish and/or meat. Great wines and beers to choose which will make your experience even better!. We look forward to go back next time!. Keep up the good work!.
We stopped in this bar restaurant for lunch on our way to South Spain. For 16â¬, we had fresh mixed salad, 2 starters (gazpacho, melon with ham), 2 main courses (very fresh fish, octopus), 2 deserts (delicious local yoghourt with honey and roasted peanuts), 2 expresso, 2 sparkling water and 1l of mineral water to take away.We were the only tourists, others were mainly spanish workers. TV on. The service was very nice and efficient (but you'd better speak a bit of spanish: no written menu available !). Unfortunately the toilets were not clean. We had a very good time and ate healthy local fresh food in a "real spanish life" environment.

A deceptively large restaurant with outside tables spreading down the pavement outside. A varied menu, friendly staff, generous well cooked portions usually with a good selection of vegetables. We are regular visitors when in the area and would highly recommend a visit.

Horrible and rude service. Food expensive and very poorly cooked and served. A rip-off.The waitress barked instead of spoke and was brusque and unsmiling. All in Spanish. Refused a two-person table near the window, saying they were all reserved. The hour and a half we stayed there, all the two-person tables remained empty. Strange bright blue markings around the fish dish, some kind of "decoration" made of jelly or something.A disgrace for such a pretty village that desperately needs tourism.

This place goes the extra mile and cannot be faulted! The food was absolutely glorious and plentiful, especially the mushrooms, and the waitress (and I suspect joint owner) a really lovely lady who couldnât have been more helpful. We will definitely return.Thank you very much for your lovely comment! Looking forward to meet you again!

We were very pleasantly surprised by the food selection. Simple but tasty and affordable, something one looks for visiting a new place while traveling. Location was good, service friendly, would definitely recommend it to others.

Vilafames is already declared one of the most Charming Villages of Spain (Pueblo mas bonito of Spain). Within its main street is this small restaurant where authentic renewed Spanish cuisine is offered. Simple, fresh ingredients, original and just oozing good flavors. We visited it two times one week apart. The first, when we found it and the second, when hosting visitors from California we wanted to show something different. Indeed, the owner was so accommodating that aware that we were pressed for time on our way toward Valencia lets us arrive at 1 pm to host us in one of their few impressive window seats. We tried their Puglia imported burrata, Cordoba-style fried eggplant , home cured boquerones prepared from a fresh catch using an orange zest instead of the traditional vinegar/oil/garlic, thin crispy bread covered with caramelized onions with blood pudding from Burgos topped each with a fried quail egg, fresh vieras and seafood "cannelloni" (crepes stuffed with seafood). Their carpaccio of oranges or of pineapple made for tasty desserts. All are modest portions right to share and more can be added from their creative carte, if hungrier. Wine by the glas is available and the bubbly owner provides three different local wine to tasty to choose at no extra price. The place is small and the entry room, the largest component, gets very crowded, particularly on a weekend. Hence a reservation is highly advisable. Parking in basically a medieval town is complicated, but going higher toward the castle a site maybe found . If not, at the base of the village there is public parking .Prices at the restaurant are very good and items in their wine list too. The service, even in a very crowded day, was friendly and efficient.
