Things to do in Jimena de la Frontera
Excellent tapas, served simply with inexpensive drinks. Families are welcome and the best place to sit is out on the tables in the street. The calamares are excellent.
We visited three times in two weeks twice for drinks and once for tapas lunch. Each time good service. As was the food. The barman/ owner needs to be a little more engaging with his customers. Other than that a nice new bar.

We had lovely salads as a starter. The tomato salad with fresh cheese and salsa verde is great; very tasty! Main course we had pulpa a la plancha and pesce spada. This was delicious! A huge piece of grilled, deliciously spiced fish, some grilled peppers and fries. I Just loved it!

Bar-Restaurante El Vaquero, enchanted village house, situated in the natural park the Acorns, near Jimena de la Frontera. (Cádiz)
Bar-Restaurant El Vaquero, charming rural accommodation located in the natural park the Alcornocales, near Jimena de la Frontera. (Cádiz)This bar/restaurant has had a number of owners, once a british beer garden. Finally I think they have got it right and it seems to have reverted back to a traditional Spanish bar/restaurant with good quality home cooking! My husband and I together with our daughter and partner stopped off quite by chance. It was a very hot day and were hoping that this restaurant had reopened for some drinks and some tapas. To our great delight it was. Our problem was now that we had our dog and could not leave her in the car as it was a particularly hot day. After asking if we could bring our dog in, we were lead through to the garden at the back of the restaurant, we never imagined that El Vaquero had such a hidden treasure!! Very quaint and delightful outside area, relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. We were very happy with the drinks, tapas and friendly helpful service. This was just a flying visit for us but we will definately be going back to try out their evening BBQ's!

Cuenca is a little old town built on a hill about two hours' drive from Madrid. It is picturesque and full of character. Hundreds year old buildings perch precariously on the edge of the hill, and many more similarly old buildings line the narrow alleys crisscrossing the old town. One may take a nice walk from the parking lot at the foot of the hill up to the old town across the steel bridge. It is worth the drive to take a detour if you are visiting Madrid.

Having visited and stayed in Jimena de la Frontera over many years we always enjoy at least one meal at La Tasca. Friendly family owned and run small restaurant with indoor and outside tables. Good value for money either just for a drink or meal. Lunch or dinner.

What a great little bar. Friendly, great cheap, good quality tapas with the odd slightly mad local for amusement. The beer is good too. Central location but where ever you walk it is either uphill or downhill and generally steep. Tapas is fresh and depends on what is available and locally fresh so the choice varies from day to day. Well worth a visit. Muchas gracias por su comentario en bar perez cada dia intentamos mejorar en el bien para nuestros clientes.

This establishment is made up by a good eatery and a nice rural hotel, all of which in a cosy rural ambience. The house has an authentic Andalusian style. The menu list wasn´t very long, but varied. I found this a very positive trait compared to other restaurants in rural areas where they tend to offer rather monotonous menus, basically based on meat. Very relaxed vibe here, being the clientelle Spaniards and foreigners alike. Food is well cooked and presented, being the prices quite average. Eating in the patio, wheather permitting, or by the fireplace is very agreeable. If you come driving, you might find more convenient to leave your car at Plaza Constitución and walk to Anon which is only 200 metres away.

The owner makes up the prices at the end, depending on if you are a tourist or a local. I am vegan and never suffer food poisoning, but I was quite ill after eating here. Shall not be going back.

The concept Sarmiento âbrasa andaluzaâ is based on the essential pillars of the andalusian lifestyle: authenticity, spontaneity and enjoyment of family and friend´s company when being around a table. Our clients would be able to feel the happiness and hos
Friendly with excellent, modern Andalusia food and a dining room/terrace with great far-reaching views. In an elevated position on the main road running past the top of the village. Public parking nearby. Stylish interior, staff very helpful and spoke English. Food is a modern take on Andalusia cooking, beautifully presented. A mix of small plates and more main dishes plus pudding. My veggie partner found his options a bit limited, not unusual for Andalucia, but he said it was very good. I hope to visit again!
