Cuando llegas a un bar de pueblo y la barra está llena y el comedor vacÃo...es por algo. El menú es de 9 euros, no hay carta. Los primeros son productos de lata y baja calidad. De los segundos, lo mejor las patatas fritas. A la hora de pagar, no te traen factura, sino que te lo dicen a viva voz. a Nosotros nos cobraron 40 ⬠por 2 litros de agua y 2 cervezas aparte del menú. Salimos sin comer y con sensación de haber sido estafados. Somos peregrinos, y este año vamos haciendo el Camino por la vÃa de la Plata y nunca nos habÃa pasado nada igual. Los vecinos de mesa también protestaron por lo mismo.

Comida buena (cochinillo y cabrito). Postre caro, y conjunto caro para lo que es. Servicio mediocre. Para ir a comer cochinillo y poco mas da de si. Muy ruidoso.

Exactly what we were looking for! A place with nice food without deviating too much from our route. Good price-quality. We had the mushrooms with two sauces, Giraldo and Totti (cheese). Both absolutely delicious. Then we had abanico, Iberian pork meat. Also lovely, juicy and we'll executed. The kids shared a trainera (a huge bocadillo) which was really savory. The local red wine (Zaleo) also recommended for those who don't need to drive. Price about 40⬠for 2 adults & 3 kids. The owner Jose Maria was very nice. He does everything by himself. Service wasn't slow but don't expect miracles!

We found this restaurant by accident and a bit of local advice after trying a couple of other places in or near Montanchez. In the end we ate here several times at lunchtime as well as in the evening. It is part of the Casa Rural Las Nogalas but is open to non residents. The food is excellent and includes wholesome home prepared local Extremaduran specialities as well as some more cosmopolitan things such as beefburgers but even these are excellent home made real quarterpounders! The host is extremely welcoming friendly and flexible. If you speak a bit of Spanish that would be good but he was kind, funny and very patient dealing with us. Prices were very reasonable indeed and the wines and drinks available were high quality. The gin and tonics are a special treat. Opening times are geared to local time but the owner is very accommodating and a phone call reservation (or e-mail with the help of a phrase book) is all that is needed to arrange a meal early in the evening. One fine evening we ate in the large garden with a view of the castle. Overall very highly recommended a really happy experience and a great place to eat.
