Walking the streets of old town Caceres can be tiring, and the demanding nature of many of the eating and drinking places can be moreso. So this was perfect, glimpsed through a hole in the wall doorway and welcoming by not being too pushy.A couple of drinks, reasonably priced, comfortable chairs and left alone to wile away the evening.Lovely, walled setting and just right on a warm night. Sometimes that's all you need.

The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. The setting is nice with views down to the main square. Appears to be used by locals and we did have some difficulties understanding the menu as no translation was available however with a bit of effort we got it. Reasonably priced and the food was nice but nothing amazing. For a good, standard Spanish tapas this is a nice place to visit.

Normally I would avoid eating around the Plaza Mayor in Spain as the restaurants there are usually overpriced tourist traps, but we arrived in Cáceres late and hungry and so settled for the first place we came across leaving the hotel. Luckily, El Rincón is a genuinely good restaurant serving typical dishes from the region. The have a good selection of local wines and beers and the portions are large and made with high quality produce.
