Reviews on Mediterranean food in Mar del Plata, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Argentina's top beach resort town, Mar del Plata boasts 10 miles of sandy beaches, from family-oriented La Perla in the north to very popular Bristol in the center and sophisticated Faro in the south. Regardless of the beach, expect very dense crowds, particularly in the summer months. Once an elite enclave, it now attracts visitors of all budgets.

We were staying at the Costa Galana hotel and chose to eat at Oceanside, we found it by coincidence on my Garmin hotspots. We were happily rewarded. The atmosphere is cosy and classy, the menu offers international cuisine, the price is reasonable, the wine menu is great. The food came with some delay, but we want to believe this is due to the fact that it was not "pre-cooked". Anyhow, what matters most is that the quality was excellent. We wanted to return on the next day, but it was closed being low-season.

Viento en Popa is a true gem of Mar del Plata. One would think that a port city would have plenty of choices when it comes to good fish restaurants, but you will be unpleasantly surprised. I would not recommend any of the touristic restos that are in the port. Luckily, Viento en Popa exists to offer great fish, cooked the right way and in very reasonable prices, especially since their portions are generous. We have been there many times already with family and friends and were always treated very well and served quickly, which is really important if you have small kids. Also, they offer other plates that are not fish/seafood related if you have people in your group that don't like fish. The restaurant is -almost- always full, so you might want to make a reservation. All in all, a very positive experience in this family oriented, simply decorated, simply fresh cooked fish joint.

On entering this place, it was obvious that this was quite special!Staff were so friendly and pre-dinner drinks were offered.Menu standard, but with some different things.Food generally excellent, better than MDP normal. But, the rice which claimed to be a risotto which accompanied my seafood main course was a disastrous stodge! Did not complain, suggest the chef had lost interest for a couple of minutes, that is all it takes to ruin a risotto. But, all else was great! My Argentine friends loved this place very much.OT...I attempted to go outside for a cigarette, and the doorman told me to go upstairs where they had a smoking area!!! So I did..........5 stars for that!!!Can't wait to return later this year.

It was great to re-visit this Mar del Plata classic, for locals with a good palate, traditional restaurant. Food is unpretentious with excellent attention to ingredient quality, portions are generous. Wine list has improved since our last visit, service is sober but super efficient. Pricing, while not budget offers better value than a couple of competitors which we also visited during this long-weekend trip with the family.Overall, I think that La Casa Vieja is one of the best kept culinary secrets in Mar del Plata. It doesn't get the press and the hype of other places but matches and outshines many of these better known places. In my opinion, this restaurant is not to be missed if you visit Mar del Plata.

Well located, near the trendy "Güemes" Street at the Barrio Los Troncos. Like an hidden paradise of food and relax, best place for romantic dinners. Excellent service, the food is tasteful- we tried some appetizers and the best Spinach Cannelloni, with an exquisite Malbec Wine - and well served. They don´t accept credit cards but we got a 20% Discount while booking for the first shift on Saturday night, at 8:30 pm.

This restaurant has been around for 50 years they make traditional basque food, the waiter suggested garlic shrimp it was delicious the main course pescado a la Vasca was excellent too. The price was fair a great find I hope I will be back. Don´t expect fancy modern decor or fusion food its just great no make up food in a local setting.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. The great thing about this place is that it's a closed door restaurant, so you call ahead for reservations. We were served a dish of potatoes and meat together, as well as some sushi-- the chef was showcasing her award winning sushi. We the had live music while eating dessert. I highly recommend going to this restaurant if you get a chance, for a fun night with a great environment.Hi Kristen! it was such a pleasure to meet you, and thanks for visit our country. We were the first to arrived but we had to wait an hour and half to be served. We told them twice that the kids food should be served as soon itâs possible. But they didnt do it or cared. The Restaurent opens at 8:30pm so u can imagine how hungry the kids were.My sons pasta was very salted and we did mention it to the waiter. My plate was ok but also too much salt. Over all not an experience I care to repeat. Poor for the service.
