My family and I traveled to Giovinazzo on New Year's Eve without making any dinner plans in advance. This was bad planning on our part because most places were either closed or full. Carlo (Desiree's owner) felt for us and welcomed us at the door along with Maria Teresa (our waitress) and Gianni (our waiter). They spent the next 20 minutes just visiting and getting to know us. We were not able to speak Italian so Carlo went and got his iPad and put it on the table so we could communicate with each other over Google Translate. For the next 3-4 hours we were served course after course of wonderful local Italian cuisine (meat, fish, pasta and more.). We enjoyed our time as Carlo appeared from the kitchen to check on us periodically and the staff joked and had fun with us and our kids.Just before midnight Carlo lit the sparklers on and the cake and poured Prosecco for all the guests. At midnight we all toasted Buon Anno!, Auguri!, after which all of the guests at the restaurant got up and wished each other a Happy New Year. We left there feeling that we didn't just have dinner...we made new friends. I want to explain that I travel 36 weeks a year with my job. I travel in Europe, Asia and the Americas and it is my responsibility to entertain clients so I spend a lot of time in all kinds of restaurants. I am lucky to be able to say I have had many, many great meals and have met lots of great people. But I have never experienced better or more genuine hospitality than I did at Desiree in Giovinazzo. I give Desiree (and Giovinazzo) my highest recommendation.Matt Gilroy, Binghamton, NY

This is a must visit restaurant in Giovinazzo. The pizza is incredible delicious you have to try the Ciccio Michele!!!! And my second favorite is the paccheri with pistacio cream and small Lobster. I suggest everyone to go to this Restaurant. The staff is very friendly and accomodating to all your needs and request. The owners are very hands on and involve with ensuring you are fully satisfied and completely happy with your meal. You will leave feeling like you just had dinner at your best friends restaurant.

Informiamo la gentile clientela che il sabato non accettiamo prenotazioni...grazie We inform our kind customers that we do not accept reservations on Saturdays ... thanks
Hereâs a proof that we were there and iâm not coming up with fantasies and excuses Data 20.07.2013 â ora 23.51 â scontrino fiscale 46 â 117.80â¬I didnât know the place, I didnât know the management, Iâm not someone whoâs in the business and nevertheless I want Take aim at an easy target, but this one Star rating is well deserved and consider yourself lucky because I couldnât go lower than that .Somehow IL PICCOLO BORGO ANTICO is a very cute Norceria â pizzeria restaurant that takes advantage of being in one of the best area of Giovanizzo, if not the best location ever, facing a lovely small Marina sitting under the stars smelling the breeze coming from the Sea , not disturbed by bikes or cars driving by due to the pedestrian zone , in few words, a great place in an unbeatable locationâ¦and maybe, because of that, they just act and do whatever they want careless of the quality and respect, going for numbers rather than looking after the customers and enjoy each single day at work. To re-cap, the place is always packed, especially at summer time and the known festivities. Because of that you need to book well in advance and be ready for it while showing up on time . Well, we were a group of 8 people, few locals, a couple Italians and the rest Foreigners who anyway know Italian language, Italians and how we work anywhere else.Well, despite the fact that we booked during the day for a specific time, 9.30 pm and we showed up six out of eight right on time we were asked to wait for a further 30minutes due to the missing two friends on their way even though our the designated table ready for us, set up, free and kept it empty for the time being. Weâve tried to explain that the late ones were about to reach us immediately after, and if it was the case we would have paid they COPERTO and meal whether they were either showing up.After struggling and discussing for almost a HOUR waiting in the line and on a side, getting upset and frustrated , somehow the owner while regretting not to have used that time for someone else, decided to let us in. The personnel did whatever they could to push us with the orders careless to pay attention to the foreign customers requests. Most probably because pushed by the greedy Manager who ran the business like a farmer runs cows in a farm.Well, they took orders and ran in and out to let us eat and drinks at different times and ruining the joy of being there already. but The worst part was yet to come: the check !! When we were about to pay, I got the ticket and gave my card. Unfortunately I didnât have cash with me and I was asking to pay with the Bancomat. By mentioning bancomat and not CREDIT CARD , normally the personnel expect to the PIN code to be inserted at any stage later on . well, leaving the card to the waitress who left us behind straight away, few minutes later I was then requested to go to the entrance by the bar counter and meet with the MANAGER who wasnâtâ pleased with the fact I didnât maybe revealed the pin code to the waiter to speed up the task. In no time, she didnât show any respect and she attacked me without me having said a word! Most probably annoyed by the fact that the figures were lower than what she would normally expect for a table of either. Well, I started laughing at the manager, a woman who had the most annoying attitude and couldnât hear a word of what I was saying while having nothing to say to justify something that was normal for a customer : having either a cordless POS at the table once someone wants to pay with a bancomat or being gently asked to go along the waitress for the PIN code request while paying at the till. So, if you are NOT willing to come toward a customer and drive your personnel like robots, at least make sure you are 100% RIGHT every single time you say something and mostly, try and improve the quality of your food, dealers and suppliers because it was below average . Pizza was alright, salumi di Norcia little and a bit dry for my taste but the rest of the main NORCIA dishes were just alright. Personally, I wonât return here ever again but no matter what I still hope that all locals and foreigners who show up in Giovinazzo might come and eat at your place which will then help the local community and keep giving work to the young great guys within your personnel who have to cope with your nonsense , but you WOMAN MANAGER need to review your attitude and your behavior and leave your frustration somewhere else !!!CIAOEpi

Hotel recommended this superb restaurant and it was our finest meal in Puglia. Have waited until leaving that part of Italy because the cuisine is quite different from the other parts of Italy weâve been to on over twenty trips to this glorious land. While the wine selection looked interesting I found the local wine to be quite nice (red) and certainly much less expensive!Wonderful pastas and no room for a second course except for a chocolate torte/soufflé delicious dessert Highly recommended

Went here with family where the staff was very friendly, patient, and quick. Giovanni was our server and he did a fantastic job.We have several appetizers and they were all delicious. They were something that would be served in an extremely fancy place in Canada and here it was just something they whipped up quickly. The pizza was phenomenal. Their white sauce pizzas... The taste was unreal. The place is small but cool as hell, the decor is typical southern Italy, concrete walls with knick knacks hung and on display. It's really cosy too, I could have just sat their for hours eating.Seriously a great place, go here.

We were a big group and we went there kinda late, but they still had the courtesy to prepare our food, and it was great! The service was excellent and our server was very attentive to us and always smiling even if we were so many (25 people). And on the top of everything they the owner and some employees took us back to our hotel that was 5 km away from the restaurant! I felt very welcomed and familiar there! Highly recommended! You have been kind customers and above all friends ... Thank you for choosing us. We hope to see you again soon. Thanks for everything. Ciao Beppe
