We live in Spain and although we throughly enjoy Spanish food. It's just lovely to try something different. Marhaba was exactly that. The main waiter ( or maybe the owner?) came and introduced the restaurant and talked about the dishes. What he recommended and what wine went well. He spoke good English and was very helpful. We tried some of his suggestion and also went with our own choices too. Excellent food from starters all the way to the desserts.Everything was so tasty and fresh, but my favorites were theMoroccan desserts and mint tea. Glad this place was off the beaten track, so to speak. A hidden gem and not over run with typical English tourists wanting nuggets and fries! Would defiantly recommend this restaurant to everyone with and looking for a taste of something different. Glad we found you, will return next time we are in Almeria.Thank you Mahaba and its staff for a wonderful evening.

Authentic Morroccan gastronomy in Almeria
We just ate at Aljaima and it was amazing. So flavorful! Reasonably priced and really friendly helpful servers. Authentic decor inside. We'd definitely come back!

This is a small family restaurant in the old Arab part of Almeria, down a narrow street. The front room appears to be more of a tea room. Full meals are served in the back room. There is a small kitchen off of the tea room where two women were cooking everything. The experience was like being in your grandmother's kitchen. The service is slow but that's because everything is made from scratch which is why it is so delicious. There are many tantalizing choices on the menu. We had fresh made Tabouleh to start which was excellent. My husband ordered Chicken Tagine and I had Bastilla, an empanada filled with a savory saffron chicken mixture in a very flaky pastry sprinkled with almonds, powdered sugar and cinnamon. It was amazing. When we left we thanked the women in the kitchen and praised their cooking. About halfway up the street, our young waitress stopped us and handed us three very tasty cookies. All in all it was a great experience.
