Le Brasier

As Is always the way, we found this place on the last day of our holiday! Had I found it sooner I would have gone more. The prices are much more reasonable than in the old town and the food was outstanding. It is also a lovely, tranquil setting. It is on a road but once inside you wouldn't know. I had a nicoise salad and it was amazing and my wife's Parma ham and parmasan was to die for! It was tinned tuna but for 12 euros I didn't mind. The barbecue looked amazing but we were just after a lunch as we were flying later. I will be back next year. Thank you very much for your visit and your comments. See you next year ! good by

This is essentially a summertime, outdoor restaurant, catering largely to tourists but with a strong local following as well. My wife and I visited twice for meals during a week's holiday in Vence, once having pizzas, which were no better than average, but on the second occasion I opted for one of the restaurant's specialities from its wood-fired oven while my wife opted for a pasta dish. Again, the pasta dish was decidedly 'average' but my rabbit was unexpectedly delicious. It was served from a battered old dish straight from the oven and it had been singed in places as had added cloves of garlic and herbs. Potatoes from the same battered dish appeared to have been cooked by a flame thrower but were bathed in an unctuous sauce and tasted sublime. This was the very epitome of rustic French cooking and I would happily go back for more. As for pizza and pasta, there are better places to enjoy them in Vence. Service was pleasant and efficient and there was no interminable wait for the bill.
