We were looking for some Arab style food in Toulon, but there was not as much choice as we had expected. So we were thrilled to find this charming little place with terrific food and a very knowledgeable owner. The burghul was the best ever, the little kebabs & kibbe perfect & the pastries made in house. I would definitely return

Fantastic taste. Good service good wine. Not a thing to change. On a fairly cold evening In March the place filled up nicely with local guests. Will definitely return

We were advised of this restaurant by another restauranter. So a big thank you to L'Artiste. A warm friendly welcome. Chef and Head of House went to great lengths to explain the dishes, including an over animated octopus. Both mains and desert were perfect. Wine was inexpensive and good. Booking advised. If we return to Toulon this would definitely be on our list.

Refused to serve asian chinese without a good reason. We read about the reviews and decided to go there for dinner with 2 other friends. It wasn't busy and there's at least 4 tables available but the owner refused to serve us the minute he saw we're asian. Extremely racist!

Our first encounter was not encouraging. We'd discovered the restaurant on the web while looking for somewhere - apart from down at the harbour - that was open on a Sunday evening. This was, supposedly. The area around McDonald's/the Opera/the alleys (where we got lost) was slightly intimidating. When we eventually found Le Bistrot it turned out that it was closed on Sunday evenings. It is almost as difficult to find a restaurant open on Monday evenings (just as in England, apart from the chains). We had decided to return to our Sunday evening find but this was now closed due to annual holidays, so back to Le Bistro, and we are so glad we did.Francoise is like a breath of fresh air! It seems she is owner/cook/waitress (talk about multi-tasking!) It took me back to the time in the 1980s when I (along with a group of other English people) used to frequent a restaurant in Le Mourillon quarter where the patronne/cook/waitress was a dear old lady we called "Mamie" who cooked for the love of cooking, charged a pittance, and took the time to talk to you. Francoise has the same magical/motherly qualities, and the cooking wasn't bad either! Not to mention that it was one of the cheaper meals that we had, but it is definitely Francoise who is the star of the show.

Based on a recommendation from friends who had eaten there twice the previous weekend, we booked for a Saturday night. Very warm welcome from the lass running front of house. Interesting but limited-choice (a good thing) menu. Obviously a skilled chef in the kitchen - clever food, perfectly cooked and presented. Good wine list at reasonable prices - stick to the local brews.

Fantastic little restaurant down a narrow street. The food does all the talking. I had some beautiful fish and my partner had steak tartare which was also excellent.Service was great too. About â¬15 for a main course.

We wanted to host a dinner with customers, and asked our hotel concierge for a non-tourist restaurant with good food. Nos Amis was a great suggestion for our dinner! We sat on an outdoor terrace (the indoor dining area was small, and with beautiful weather no one was seated inside), under umbrellas. The tables were casual style (no white table cloths), and the ambiance was relaxed. The food was excellent, and the service was good, allowing us to take our time. We had Starters, Entrees and Dessert, and everything was enjoyable. The wine list was not extensive, but the wines offered were great!
