Find out what Seafood restaurants to try in Northern Portugal. Brimming with both history and natural wonder, Northern Portugal is home to Porto, the city that gave the country its name, as well as the important ancient town of Braga. Also here is Peneda-Gerês, Portugal’s only national park, a gorgeous wilderness area of mountains, gorges, water features and wildlife. Many picturesque villages and manor houses dot the countryside. Two areas are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alto Douro Wine Region, and the Paleolithic rock art in the Côa Valley.

Oxala restaurant was born in 1991 and from year to year has become a reference for the restaurant area. Here everything is taken into account, from the personalized service, to tasty dishes and decoration. In our restaurant you will find a refined, spacio
The food isn't bad, most dishes that "serve 2", could easily feed 4 people. The dishes are served with salad and loads of vegetables, which is VERY refreshing - most restaurants couldn't even recognize a vegetable if they saw one. The fish is obviously fresh and high-quality, but the food didn't have that "wow" factor. The service is an "experience" and fancy. I had to eyeroll a few times throughout the experience. The waiters are just too much, always making the same jokes and some awkward pranks to the point it really becomes annoying. All in all, not bad, but way too overrated.

Barca was one of our favourite resturant's in Portugal. We arrived early and after helping ourselves to water and wine the owners son appeared to translate for us in English. Americano the father brought out a huge Monk fish that had been caught that day and suggested the Monk fish rice, it was the most devine delicate plate of food and after 25km walking exactly what was required to recharge the batteries. The stock was so delicious it was the topic of conversation for many days later until emailing Americano for the recipe which he supplied. The drinks were also generous and fabulous, for example the gin and tonic arrived in a large glass with a cinnamon quill, strip of orange vest, juniper berries and huge chunks of ice.A must visit if you love food, the family run business was a very happy place to have dinner! Very small venue, about 15 seats, often queues. I would suggest booking, only by phone. Brilliant personal service, by enthusiastic waiter (owner?). Very decent price.Food - everything we tried was excellent - shrimps and sausages in the pan, burning salt fish - actually comes to the table with metre-high flames! Very good wines at modest prices. They will recommend things if you ask. Useful English spoken. No faults or doubts here. Just book it!

Restaurante Lage sr Padrao Dears costumer, restaurant is close for summer vacations at 29 August. See you soon. Thank you
A very nice family restaurant. Seabass, potatoes and vegetables are more than worth the money. Very friendly service all in all. Wines are reasonably priced too, and of good quality. Desserts include tortas geladas and Nata de Ceu which was, well, heavy stuff. That means good. Always worth a taxi ride to visit.

Freshest fish available being right in the market and careful attention to preparation and service make this a great find. For dessert the cheese cake was refreshingly light yet very flavorful. Pedro, the owner, is gracious and so willing to help. We simply asked him to feed us and he delivered, big time!Thank you so much for visiting and for the friendly comments you left us. Traditional Portuguese restaurant of grilled fish and seafood. Fresh fish directly from the fishing-harbor. Complete bar ans cocktails!
We had the shrimp dumplings for appetizer and grilled fish (espada and âcavalaâ). With a good bottle of white wine it costed around â¬50 for 2 persons and it was every cent worth it. Everything was delicious. Comfortable e beautiful chairs, friendly service.
