A traditional restaurant with regional cuisine in the heart of Serra da Estrela, in the city of Manteigas
Really nice lunch. Shared medalhões de vaca com queijo serrano with my girlfriend. We liked it a lot and was enough. Main dish 10⬠(5⬠each).Many thanks for your comment and for your rating! We look forward to seeing you again!

We ate here because we were staying at the pousada, but you should eat here whether or not you are. Its food and ambience both combined to give us a great evening. I had an incredible rack of lamb, which would have been outstanding at any big city gourmet restaurant.

As I have said before in these reviews, From the outside this unpresupposing restaurant seems rather unlikely to produce good food and you might well be tempted to drive past. But it is surprisingly good and it produces about the best food in the local area. Portions are huge, prices are low but cuisine is fresh, authentic and very much follows the idiom and tradition of the local region and Portugal at large. And there is a great wine list too.

I was here for a trip to Serra da Estrela and decided to go to Manteigas. The restaurant I wanted was closed, so I decided to go to this one and it was a pleasant surprise. The staff is VERY thoughtful. I was with my little daughter and they were all very nice to her. We decided to go for the codfish and it was very good. Very tender, cooked to perfection, and the portion was very good.If you are in Serra da Estrela, come visit this place. It's worth it.

We had four nights in the area and were not satisfied with the dinner buffet at our hotel. We found this place on a map and read the Tripadvisor reviews. On the first night we didnât know that they were so popular that we should have made reservations. They were VERY nice and found a table for us even though they were busy. We were so happy with the food that we made reservations for the two next nights as well.On the first night we had the veal - it was falling off the bone and was so tender we really didnât need knives !On the second night we had a beef steak - perfectly grilled and full of flavour !On the third night we had confit duck - this was my favourite! Again, the meat was falling off the bone... it was so tender... and I will be dreaming of this dish for a long time !The staff is awesome! They were very friendly, attentive and efficient! This place is BUSY but they manage to run everything so smoothly you hardly notice how fast they run. They made us feel special as customers and there is alot of love in this food â¤ï¸!We highly recommend coming here - remember to make reservations!

I love eating at restaurants outside the tourist circuit. The facilities are simple but service is excellent and food even better! I found this place just by using google maps and picking the best-rated restaurant on my way back from Barroca to Belmonte. The waiter was super helpful, explained how the dishes were made and provided us with super service. We were in a family of four and picked several different dishes and they were all delicious. The local wine recommended by the waiter was also very good. By the way, I am not a fine dining type guy. I love homemade style cooking.

This restaurant is about 6 miles outside Belmonte. However, it had the highest rating of any restaurant in the area. When I got there I found out why. It is in an old stone building and has a public parking area out front with plenty of free parking. The man who seemed to be the owner fell all over himself to be friendly and helpful. I ordered roast pork and the piece he bought out almost covered the plate it was so large. It came with generous servings of rice, apple sauce and creamed spinach. For desert he recommended something he said was a favorite in that village. It turned out to be a generous serving of very good flan. The whole bill came to a very reasonable 21 Euros. And to top it all off, he took my credit card. It is a bit of a drive out there, but it was sure worth it. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

We found this restaurant whilst traveling from Guarda to Evora. This was a great find in a very small village called Valhelhas. The restaurant only has about 10 tables and all the food is freshly cooked and delicious local dishes. The wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent. Everything over the expectations. If you are around, don't miss it. Genuine Portuguese food with fairy price and overwhelming service. Don't forget to make a reservation as must part of the days it's really busy. You'll love this typical mountain's restaurant specially if you get a table next to the fireplace on a cold day.

This is an attractive themed restaurant, based on the Roman rule in Portugal as its name describes. Decoration in the establishment and staff´s dresses are according to it. They provide traditional Portuguese dishes with a more contemporary touch. Lenda Viriato is a good place to those with a hearty appetite, in fact you risk ordering too much food if you don´t know beforehand that servings are quite abundant. The food is also good and well cooked. Varied clientele. Warm and friendly staff, with a familiar touch. Prices are medium or a bit just under that, and taking into account quality and quantity, the price-quality ratio is even better. All in all, a place to recommend.
