I thought the place was clean and comfortable. I had a few different coffee drinks- a double chocolate, and iced mocha and they were both great! I tried their vegetable pita which was the best meal I've had on the island so far.

http://www.manicouriverresort.com/find-us.html"Please drive until you find a restaurant called Poonkies, (very good food) on the right after Douglas Bay"http://louisiana2dominica.wordpress.com/local-cuisine-2/restaurants/"Poonkies-chicken & fish dishes; Call Trevor for Reservations at 767-285-6774."
This was the best fish dinner we had in Dominica, bar none. Generous portions, fresh fish, freshly prepared. The cook is amazing. The wait staff, however, provided a very weird experience. Told us she couldn't make me a rum punch, despite the dazzling array of bottles behind the bar. Actually, told me she didn't have anything I asked for, so I gave up and told her to make me whatever she liked. She returned with a small cocktail that seemed to be based on Bailey's. My husband and son sensibly stuck with beer. The pre-drinks wouldn't normally be an issue for me, but we waited more than an hour for food because she had to call the cook in. Maybe she was having a bad night, maybe we were dining too early. Go for the food, but be prepared for a weird experience.

Each evening, after hopefully seeking the green flash at sunset, we dined in the top-floor (and top-shelf) restaurant, with the lights of the waterfront twinkling in the distance and the moon and Venus visible overhead. We especially enjoyed the Hawaiian pizza from the wood-burning oven; grilled mahi with tomato salsa; Kabuli beer-battered snapper; grilled lionfish with mango salsa; cheeseburgers (in paradise!); and tacos.

Woody's Pizza, right between Portsmouth and Ross University; delicious food with great service
We tried to go to Woody's at least 4 times. They advertise as being the "best pizza on the island". Everytime we went it was closed. Finally we gave up and by chance on a drive by it was open. I popped in to see what they offered, but the only topping they had was pepperoni. Needless to say we decided to go elsewhere. Sad.

We stayed at Sisters Sea Lodge in the cabins behind the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by Valina, the restaurant owner and had a wonderful fish dinner. It was so good that we ate there almost every night of our stay. The food is wonderful and view is fabulous, directly on the beach. For Valentine's Day they had drummers and a huge bonfire on the beach. Definitely a great place to eat.

arrived mid afternoon on Christmas Day a little hungry and they rustled up some amazing grilled fish curry and jerk chicken. Super friendly waitress was charming and the spot was beautiful, now debating going back for the evenings festivities...

My husband and I had a big lunch here after exploring the Indian River. We had the place to ourselves and the owner's were wonderfully accommodating. We had the most delicious meal with impeccable service with beautiful views of the water! Can't wait to go back here again for more lobster. We had conch salad, tuna tar tar and tons of lobster!

My wife and I came here on the Saturday before Easter Sunday, 2017. We arrived just after 7pm, after a long hike along Segment 13 of the Waitukubuli Trail.
Being a holiday, I was afraid they would not be open. (Nothing else was!) Just the bar (which was in full swing, with a couple of fellas talking it up).
The chef greeted us, and said she could help us out as long as it wasn't anything too extensive. She informed us she had an early church service she was trying to make it to the next morning.
I ordered a burger with ham and a side of fries; my wife had the jambalaya pasta.
My wife, who can be very picky and snobbish about food, loved her dish and demanded we come back another day for a fish dish.
I have to say my burger was one of the best I ever had! A healthy portion of beef topped with a thick slice of cured ham, crunchy lettuce and aromatic tomato, in a bun--which at first I doubted due to its pale color--that was hearty and tasty, and not at all soggy as anticipated. As if she read my mind, there was just the right amount of mayo added to the bun (I hate ketchup on burgers)!
We highly recommend trying this place out! It's right on the beach, and I'm sure it has a spectacular view during daytime hours...

We stayed at the Sister's Sea Lodge but only ate there a couple of times. It seems to be popular with the locals. Over 4 days we stayed, there was always a table of regulars enjoying a drink or two. The food was good but a bit on the expensive side. If you care to read about a trip to Dominica visit our not for profit blog havecarryonwilltravel.com. The portions are large and my wife and I shared one entree which made the meal more than affordable. It is worth a visit.
