From ornate mansions to ocean views, this charming city - the largest in Maine - will enchant you. Saunter down the brick sidewalks and cobblestone streets of the revitalized Old Port District, where you can browse through bookstores, explore craft shops and eat to your heart's content. Visit the Portland Head Light, which dates back to 1791, and is the oldest lighthouse still in continuous use in the U.S. The great poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is the city's native son, and you can visit his childhood home, the Wadsworth-Longfellow House. With kids in hand, enjoy the highly interactive Children's Museum of Maine. And then go next door to the calmer Portland Museum of Art, a small, but eclectic museum with Impressionist works, Maine landscapes by Homer and Wyeth and other collections. Land or sea is an option here, so if you're tired of the street life, take one of the popular scenic cruises or whale watches, or hop on a ferry to the islands in Casco Bay. At the end of the day, and without kids in hand, unwind and rest your tired feet at one of the city's brewpubs.

Mercury Inn is a modern, sustainable inn in the heart of downtown Portland. Featuring locally-sourced breakfast made fresh every morning in-house, Mercury Inn is welcoming destination for any kind of traveler. Each guest room has been carefully designed to compliment the unique character of this classic Victorian building that has been welcoming travelers for over 20 years.
The Mercury was within walking distance of everything I came to Portland to do and see, and my suite was beautifully renovated and comfortable and cozy on a chilly rainy weekend. It was immaculate, and I was surprised by how spacious it was, too. The COVID measures in place made everything contact-free but the proprietors were always a text message away, which I really appreciated. The coffee was plentiful and the yogurt was excellent and the local doughnuts were a delightful surprise in the morning! It felt like a perfect home away from home, and I only wish I could have stayed longer. I would definitely stay here again, and hope to before too long!

This was an excellently located hotel and a wonderful place to stay. The room was very comfortable and nice. There are so many places to visit within walking distance so this is an ideal place to stay to explore downtown Portland. I wish the parking and breakfast was not so pricey, but great locations have their costs.

The Press Hotel provided the perfect accommodation for our babymoon. The room was clean and comfortable, and the shower was luxurious. I was also pleasantly surprised at the additional little touches the hotel offered. For instance, the gym had drawers full of trail mix, earbuds, and hair ties for those who had lost or forgotten these items at home. Very thoughtful. The staff also saved us from what would have been a big problem. The morning of our extremely early departing flight, an Uber driver rudely cancelled on us. It was around 4:15am, and there were no other active Uber/Lyft drivers in the vicinity. Luckily, the hotel works with 2-3 other drivers outside the rideshare apps, and the front desk associate was able to secure us a ride to the airport. Lastly, the location cannot be beat. A brief walk will get you to Long Wharf, or to any of the many wonderful Portland restaurants. My husband and I highly recommend this hotel.

The epitome of comfort and elegance, The Inn On Carleton is a beautifully restored 1869 grand Victorian Bed & Breakfast located in Portland's historic West End neighborhood. A short walk to the Portland Museum of Art, Maine Medical Center, the Arts District, Old Port, and the Waterfront with shops and fine restaurants. Our six luxurious guest rooms are located on the second and third floors of the historic home. Breakfast is included in with your room and is served in our beautiful dining room. A lovely garden is available during the summer months.
The inn was just fantastic. Check in was a breeze, the rooms were quiet and cozy. And the innkeeper is amazing. She had great suggestions for things to do around Portland and Maine in general, was always very nice whenever we had seen her, and just a great person to chat with. The only drawback to the location is parking. There are only 4 spots available "on premise" so if there are more than 4 rooms booked, there's potential that you may need to park on the street. Even when that did happen to us, though, it was basically right in front of the inn and there was not a time where no parking available. Definitely would not deter us from going back.

Stayed at Westin Portland Harborview on a business trip and enjoyed my time there. Rooms were very spacious, clean, and quiet. The staff at the reception was super helpful and kind. However, for some reason my room was not cleaned up in the morning which was a bit weird and disappointing. Other than this, no complains!

Situated along the waterfront of Portland, Maine, our hotel is within four blocks of downtown. Explore the neighborhood with our complimentary Canopy bikes and find dozens of unique shops, restaurants, galleries, and trails within a mile. Our rooftop bar features great views of the waterfront, and we offer a private dining room and event space for special functions.
Stayed for one night at the Portland, ME Canopy. What a great hotel and experience!! All the common areas are so tastefully designed, restful, welcoming and numerous. broken up into different common areas, with these cool fireplaces that dont emit heat but look and sound like a fireplace. Very welcoming. The entire time to staff were super polite, welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean and well designed. We were two friends in a double queen. The bedroom and the bathroom/entry area have a sliding door between so if you are sensitive to hallway noise its blocked out. Not that we had that problem, just saying. They have real glasses & cups & a Nespresso machine in the room, & old school milk bottles, to fill at stations on every floor w/ free purified water. Also free coffee, tea & citrus water in the cafe in AMs. it seemed like everything about this hotel was based on thinking about the guests and what would cater to their needs. even the "transfer area" - if you need to check out but want stay in the area - with large lockers for luggage, you lock with your own code., a bathroom with a shower "too freshen up if you need to" and convenient supplies. I would SO stay at this hotel again - or any Canopy based on this experience. Bed was too soft for me but I have a firm mattress at home. also several pillows some soft some firmer, nice to have the options. GREAT all around. Thank you Portland Canopy folks!! we were so happy with our stay.

AC Hotels by Marriott reflect the souls of the cities in which they reside. They offer a unique combination of quality, timeless European design, comfort and true authenticity - a whole new way to travel. Stylish Hotels for Urban Spirits and a new way to connect to the city.
This is a really functional hotel which has everything you need for a trip to Portland. It's located in the Old Port and all the restaurants and bars are easily accessible. Rooms are spacious and beds were comfortable. Toiletries are included and are lovely. The bar is great and the staff make an excellent Aperol Spritz. The gym is well equipped with cardio and free weights and a cable station. We had a city view but there are great views of the Port / Sea also. Breakfast is available thought I'd recommend a trip to the Standard Baking Company just down the street. Valet parking is $35 but well worth it as Portland can get super busy - plus the valet team are really lovely. Housekeeping is on request so you risk of being woken and reception staff are really helpful at providing additional towels etc. Would definitely stay here again.

We arrived at 2:30 and were told our room wasn’t ready and if I gave them my phone number they would call when my room was ready. They only offer valet parking, therefore I would have had to turn my car with all my belongings to a unknown person. I chose to park across the street at $15 to lock my own car with my belongings safe. I never got a phone call that my room was ready. They stated that they lost my paperwork and didn’t seem to really care. I finally got in my room at 6:00, but my late afternoon plans and dinner plans were ruined because of the late check in.

Portland's only AAA rated 4 diamond hotel in Old Port. Amenities include a 4 Star restaurant with available 24 hour room service, 24 hour valet services, spa treatment rooms, professionally certified concierge service, and full fitness center.
We had a wonderful night’s stay here on our one night in Portland. Great location and a beautiful hotel. Quick valet, check in/out, and great service. Very comfortable room overlooking the courtyard with a very comfortable bed. We dined at the restaurant and had an amazing meal. Didn’t need to venture out of the hotel, which was great for our weary selves! We would definitely stay here again.
