Port Hueneme (/waɪˈniːmi/ wy-NEEM-ee) is a small beach city in Ventura County, California surrounded by the city of Oxnard and the Santa Barbara Channel. The name derives from the Spanish spelling of the Ventureño phrase wene me, meaning "Resting Place". Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo explored this area and the adjacent Channel Islands in October 1542. The town's name was officially changed to Port Hueneme in 1939 and was incorporated March 24, 1948.

The Moqueca is a wonderful restaurant in the harbor area. The fish stew is fabulous which brings us back whenever we are in town. Great flavors, authentic cuisine, good service and great food. Can’t wait for our next visit. Very quiet at the lunch hour with nice views over the harbor.

I had driven by here many times but finally made it a point to stop in for a visit. The large menu had me scanning it for several minutes, having a hard time deciding what to try. I finally went with meal #44 (see picture), which is comprised of pork, chicken, egg cake and broken rice. I substituted the broken rice for fried rice. The meal was pretty good, though not particularly outstanding. The place was busy and had a pretty good vibe about it. The servers were fast and friendly, and the prices were reasonable. It's a good fit for all budgets.

I love this place every time I go to work in Port Heuneme. I go here for breakfast and lunch. The smoothies are good, the breakfast and lunch options are exactly what I want. The coffee is good and everything is home made. This is the only place you need to go to when you are in Port Hueneme, I have never been disappointed.

We stopped in for coffees and a bite - were wonderfully surprised by their fun eclectic breakfast offerings. Waffle specials, superb oatmeal bowls, breakfast burritos. Easy parking, lots of good inside and outside seating. Friendly team. You'll be glad you stopped by.

I had four cheese ravioli with meat sauce in a restaurant known for pizza. It was so delicious! It came with two toppings of my choice. I suggest the zucchini and mushrooms. The bread sticks are to die for! Toppers Pizza offers a myriad of topping choices for your pizza. There really is something for everyone. Outdoor seating is available for a lovely view of the harbor.

Sometimes, you just want Thai Food...and don't have to go far. Well, we are fortunate. We have it close by and it's good too. Personally, I love Pineapple Fried Rice. This comes with Shrimp, pork and chicken. If I had one complaint, I'd like more shrimp. My husband gets one and that leaves one for me. He loves the Spicy Basil plate. Uh, too spicy for me. But he's ordered it several times; so he must like it. The people there are so friendly and we really enjoy going here. Is it the best Thai food I've ever had? Nope! But then I've been to Thailand and have eaten a lot of Thai Food. Blue Elephant is down home cooking, tasty and good.

This is one of the better and one of the busiest Starbucks. There are some outdoor places to sit, and the much parking is close enough to get wifi. I using just take it to go and eat in the car while using the free wifi.

This is my favorite sushi I've found in Southern California . Their atmosphere is beautiful looking over the boats in the Ventura harbor (from the back row of tables). Their rolls are unique and delicious. It's small but packed with flavor. Although it's nothing to look at from the outside (it's located in a shopping place parking lot) don't let that discourage you!

Some friends recommended the restaurant so we headed in and I went for a Chef's choice combination of Sushi and Sashimi as well as some Mixed Tempura, plus Miso. The Miso was fairly standard, the Tempura was light and tasty, and all the fish on the Sushi/Sashimi was very fresh and had good flavour. One interesting thing was that we were advised which Sushi to eat without Soy as he had added flavours that would be ruined, like one had some chopped onion/vinegar on top. Overall very fresh and very quick.

Stopped in Oxnard for the night and after looking for a restaurant happened on the Cabo. Looked like a local place as it was busy but staff found us seats for 6 in the bar area. The waiter was friendly and gave us good service as did others. Fun place. The fish tacos were very good. Wish there was a local place like it.
