Having stayed here for 3 nights I would have to say with so many problems with covid it would have been so much nicer to see more detailed cleaning. Under the lounges and bed there was lots of dust and the bathroom needed a good clean and several items replaced such as the rubbish bin, toilet roll holder and whole shower screen as it was also rusted and leaking all along the bottom. The hand towel hanging right beside the toilet was not that hygienic as any toilet when flushed does spray so unfortunately right onto the clean hand towel The outdoor furniture was too dirty to sit on so not a really good look The cupboard in the kitchen with the microwave....Well I wonder how many have broken their nose on this...thus the bit of plastic stuck to the corners of it....PLAIN WEIRD!!!!!!!! the whole design of it. We did request that our room not be serviced due to covid during our stay so were upset when we came back to discover the bed pulled up but all the rest just left as it was so really why bother and why do it when we had asked for it not to be. We had to request clean towels as we only received 2 so no extra for drying your hair with unless you used the same towel which I don't at home so prefer the same when staying places. That is extra towels!!!!!! The only bonus was its within walking distance to everything...cafes..hotels etc. in the town and has a private shared garage. We loved our stay in the area but would probably not choose to stay here again so perhaps replace your cleaners who are certainly not doing a great job I do think you need to upgrade your apartments if you want people to stay and enjoy their time here

Honestly I cannot rate this inn highly enough, it’s by far the best accommodation I have stayed in on my current road trip. Things I love about the Merrijig are all of the personal touches that make it feel like home, the chocolate frogs, the homemade cooks, Pamela the privacy pig, the big pile of interesting books, the amazing toiletries provided which I loved more because they are refillable rather than individual bottles, fair trade coffee, the bed was also super comfortable and that’s before I get to the breakfast which was beyond outstanding. The breakfast included hot cross buns, which tasted homemade (not sure) but delicious anyway, a beautiful bowl of fruit, yogurt, white/brown homemade bread, 3 homemade jams, peanut butter/ Vegemite, many kinds of juice, rhubarb spritz, coffee tea and then a amazing scrambled eggs with spinach & tomatoes on sourdough, I didn’t need lunch, I barely needed dinner. Although not included in the room I also ate dinner the night I arrived at the Merrijig and can again confirm it’s well worth trying, I enjoyed each course, the wine selection was excellent and the services perfect. Thanks you for the wonderful stay, we will definitely be back the next time we pass through Port Fairy.

We are in a central position walk to the shops cafes and restaurants, only 5-10 minutes walk to the river and beaches. All rooms are fresh with en-suite, kitchenette, flat screen TV, DVD, i pod player, candles, bar fridge, free internet. A narrow bluestone path leads to our courtyard, parking is at the rear and access is via Barclay St one st back, there are signs.
Can't fault this gem. The room was prepped and presented perfectly; welcoming us after a long drive. There was a subtle lovely scent as you walk. I should have asked what it was! Impeccably clean and perfect location in the heart of town. Friendly and welcoming hosts who know you by name. Excellent quality appliances, crockery and cutlery (for a snack and cuppa). Proper tea and coffee offered; none of those unknown brand names here. As you can tell, I have nothing negative to say... Thanks Maree for making our room just right for for our little chats and thanks Tony for everything. Great in communicating too once booking is confirmed.

So ordered the beef and bacon burger, my sons ordered the chicken burgers. The chips were inedible obviously cooked in old burnt oil, smelt burnt. I had to get my burger re cooked because it came out raw. Cheese obviously cheap supermarket plastic wrap cheese, same for the bun, straight from the supermarket!!!! $23 for a basic burger, I know it's a busy time, but it's vreallybasic food. Guinness on tap was marvellous.

Warning! Do not stay here! After having booked two weeks before arrival, were told on the day of arrival that the room we had booked was unavailable? We got but I’m a lesser room with no offer of a refund. Staff had no idea what was going on. The service was poor and I found the manager a little rude. Also there were only 2 pillows on the bed. Would recommend to stay elsewhere.

Select from a range of accommodation options at Historic Seacombe House, circa 1847. Port Fairy is arguably one of Victoria's most historic and beautiful towns. Situated at the ocean end of the main street in a quiet garden setting, only minutes to the shops, boutique cafes and restaurants, five minutes walk to the historic wharf and Moyne River, and ten minutes walk to the beaches. Our unique property is spread across three buildings and provides a variety of accommodation options including historic cottages, stylish appointed motel suites and a comfortable guest house. The original Bluestone building also features a beautiful restaurant, along with conference and function rooms. Our heritage listed cottages have the added indulgence of open fires & large double spas. Named after historic local sailing vessels, two of the cottages offer a second bedroom & kitchenette. If stylish contemporary is more your thing, then why not try our Seacombe House Motor Inn motel suites. The ultra modern Executive Suites, & the Premier Suites all feature wide screen TVs, DVD players, satellite TV ,and are beautifully decorated. A complimentary guest laundry, parking subject to availability , beautiful gardens, minutes to boutique cafes restaurants and the historic port are just some of the reasons our guests return again and again.
Seacombe House provided a comfortable stay in a central location and met our requirements. The fit-out is standard and what you might expect in a motel , the Wi Fi worked okay and the place was clean with all facilities working and it is probably as good as it gets in Port Fairy at the price and satisfactory for an over-night stay.
