The city scape is dreary concrete slabs. The French have a knack for screwing up their more modern marina.beachfront venues. Fortunately, they haven't forgotten how to cook. This upstairs restaurant is a fine emporium for fresh and artfully prepared fish and shellfish. The clientele is full of regulars, both retirees and younger couples, and the Waitstaff is led by a classic old time waiter and several apprentices.
You can count on fresh and excellent marine life, coupled with a respectable wine list. This is a good place to have a boat, a slice of the sun and a lovely selection of the best local seafood.

Fresh seafood opened before you. Great quality and great value as well. It doesn't look much from the outside, but it really is good, with friendly service and a relaxed style.

We had the lunch menu (starter, main course, dessert), and for 14 EUR, you couldn't ask for much better: good food, well presented... The quantities were just fine for us, but if you have a big appetite, you might find the portions not big enough.
Although the restaurant is located on the 1st floor, there is no view on the nearby sea, but there is a terrasse sheltered by an old tree and a veranda as well as an indoor area.
Since m boyfriend and I didn't choose the same option, I got to try both starters and main courses and they were equally good (cod/beef)... The rest of the menu sounded good too, dishes are French cuisine with a mediterranean touch to it.
I was there near the end of the summer season and noticed the restaurant is also open all year round, a nice thing in a small beach resort! We'll definitely give a try to their main menu next time we're there (evening 3 course menu for 28 EUR I think)...

Le Spinaker

This chic and laid-back restaurant is located inside the Spinaker Hotel in Grau de Roi-Port Camargue, not far from Nimes. The hotel has a light and breezy 'summer holiday' vibe with sun decks and a swimming pool, and Le Carres des Gourmet has a candlelit Terrace perfect for al fresco dining on warm evenings. The Mediterranean menu, created by Head Chef Jean Pierre Cazals, is fresh and seasonal and signature dishes include the smoked salmon served with horseradish and salad; the beef carpaccio with truffle oil, lemon juice, sweet herbs and hazelnuts; and the rabbit casserole cooked with almonds, broad beans and salad. Le Carres des Gourmet also has an excellent French wine list.

We were staying at the Spinaker hotel, which is reasonable and in a relaxing setting in Port Camargue. The hotel restaurant was closed so we went into Port Camargue to eat at L'Amarette (see next review). However the following evening we were able to go to the Spinaker restaurant, it seemed highly rated by previous reviewers and therefore offered us a chance to compare it L'Amarette. In a nut shell both were similarly priced and excellent but very different. The Spinaker is in a modest sized room with views over the modern harbour, which is lined by yachts many of which are for sale ! The restaurant looked unpretentious, no tablecloths and in no way hinted at the quality of food that was to come. The staff were very accommodating. The food was modern French with a tendency to nouvelle cuisine, with flavour dominating form. I started with an exquisite pan fried foie gras, which was perfection on a plate, followed by cheek of iberian pork. The latter was a new experience and very good. My companion started with a wonderfully barbecued squid which was probably the best we have had, followed by an elaborately presented St. Peter's fish. Again excellent. While the environment isn't as charming as so many places along the Grau, nor particularly suited for watching the world go by, we left entirely satisfied by the food and bill. I would definitely go again. Best suited to couples. I would rate this as 27 based on my open scoring system. (see previous reviews). Forget Michelin stars and the excesses that follow such establishments, this was French food at its best and good value.

Enjoyed a glorious lunch here today !
We had booked the day before as we were one vegetarian, it was good to know that there was no menu for the following day as it's built around what's caught that morning.
Weather poor but no worries as the welcome, service and food lit up the day.
We lunched with friends one of whom does not eat meat.
Starters were delicious; fish soup sublime with all the traditional but often omitted garnishes.
Clearly all home made with great attention to taste.
Beautiful herb omelette with all the vegetables for our vegetarian. The other dinners had skate wings, clearly fresh that morning. Served with a range of vegetables and sauces, all the plates were emptied !
House desserts were tasty and there was a range to meet most tastes.
Excellent service, made to feel so welcome - so in my best French
Il y a juste un mot pour le dejeuner aujourd'hui - formidable
Merci beaucoup

This is my favourite restaurant for 2014 ! We selected La Plancha thanks to Trip Advisor and went there on a wenesday evening (pre-booking absolutely necessary! ). I guess i should begin with the warm welcome we had : a true and caring welcome, but not too much. Then the concept which is nice and fun : Well everbody cooks its own pieces of meat, fish and vegetable, the raw materials are very fresh and of top quality. What else ? The atmosphere : on wenesday evening, there is a band. to be honest, i was wondering what kind of music we would have : it was french and english pop music, just the one everybody knows ... some of us clapped, or sang and even danced on the floor. People who were walking down the "quai d'honneur" stopped to listen, some also stopped to dance. I love that kind of atmosphere, you do not decide it, it's just there ... or it is not. Thanks a lot to the family who runs the restaurant, they made it a very welcome and cheerufll place, just as they certainly are.

I like very much this restaurant
Everything is fresh made, and fishes are prepared right after fishing from the Kalvin Kilyan boat.
Grilled squids and rouille graulenne are excellent. Grilled fishes absolutely delicious and generous.
The Chardonnay from Charles Guitard is floral (white flowers and violets), tasty and long.
Service is efficient and kind.
Congrats !

First thing, it is nice to be welcomed by smiling people, from end to finish..... The food was very good, including fresh fish and tasty soup. Quantity of the fish could have been a bit greater though, but the price was decent so not much to complain about. Dessert was disappointing (industrial apple pie) and not at the level of the rest but my spouse had an excellent home made
