Poltsamaa Wine Cellar has become one of the town's true tourist magnets. Here you can try and buy all of Poltsamaa's wines, made from natural fruit and berries, some of which are young and perky, and others more aged and dignified. Did you know...?
Quite wine cellar. Cosy. Prize for degustation 3 different wines - 2.20 eur, for 5 differeny wines - 2.80 eur. You will be served 3 or 5 small plastic glasses, 2 cl of wine inside. Also inside there is a very small food museum. Not glamorous at all, but worth going.

Rivaal Cafe is in the centre of Poltsamaa, on the shores of the river and with views to Roosisaar Island. It has its own fireplace, as well as a private room catering for groups of up to 40 people.
This place was better than expected, they have a huge menu and our choices turned out pretty okay. The decor and Estonian pop music might not be the most appealing, but what you get for the price is!

The restaurant is located in the centre of continental Estonia. Guests have an opportunity to visit the lookout on the 5th floor and the permanent exhibition of the works of Albert Gulk in the art gallery on the 3rd and 4th floors. The restaurant seats 50 people.
If you're seeking bright lights, glitzy interiors and extensive menus on the Tallinn-Tartu road there are two locations - Tallinn or Tartu.
If you're seeking a break from 2-lane driving (120 km from Tallinn or 60 km from Tartu) and the monumental stupidity of so many of the car drivers on that road, and seek a leg stretcher, a coffee, a freshly made pastry and the atmosphere of a bit of history (250 years and counting for the windmill), this is the perfect place. Particularly when driving between October and March in falling snow.
I can think of half-a-dozen roadside eateries between the end of the 4-lane highway coming out of Tallinn and the railway crossing at Tartu, but none have quite the same above-the-horizon visibility as this old stone windmill.
I've been stopping here 4-6 times a year since 2003. This is the only eatery I know that sells wiener sausages wrapped in a spiral of puff-pastry.
The hot/cold buffet provides typical Estonian fare - they appear as wholesome as 'home-cooked' and are the sorts of dishes eaten at home. Wholesome, but nothing to write home about. I can never understand why drivers have large meals on the road - I always go to sleep afterwards!
I suspect the business plan is low-risk, making small low cost incremental improvements year-on-year as opposed to the high-risk of a whopping bank loan and no guarantee of success. Oh yes! Over the past 12 years there have been improvements - in lighting, food safety (the chilled and heated buffet trolleys), the toilets.
If you have time, climb the stairs for the exercise more than either the views (flat, flat, flat farmland) or spartan interior - hey! it is a non-working mill.

The place open only summer period until 15th of august (in 2014). It is located North-West in Hiiumaa, at Kalana harbour. Average service and food but the outside eating has a very nice seaview, just at the seafront. Surrounding have the best Beaches of Hiiumaa, like the Ristna Beaches.

Delicious pastas, crispy sandwiches and fresh salads directly from Italian cuisine!
We just enjoyed a great lunch, you need to try the homemade burgers and fries, and coffee afterwards.
The place is situated near the center and offers great parking and a sweet garden Terrace.
Foreigners find it easy because of a translated (english) menu and also english speaking friendly and helpful staff.
