I believe the restaurant seasonal. Only open during summer. Serves meals and drinks to non members.
Guys and gals take a bow. The piha slsc is awesome and the "staff" are second to none. Thanks for your tireless efforts to save lives and support your community. You are all superstars.

Ordered toasted sandwiches to takeaway, waited well over half an hour for our order to be brought out. The cafe wasn't particularly busy. It seemed someone from every table went up to the counter to enquire as to how long their order was taking. And the staff didn't seem that bothered.
The Sandwich was really good, the piece of cake from the cabinet was good too. However, there is no excuse for the length of time we had to wait.
Wouldn't bother going again.

Local RSA that allows non-memebers near major intersection at Pihia Beach
We were really hungry and could not travel much. We decided to have our lunch here. The food quality was quite good and the taste was ok! Not bad overall!

The drinks came quick enough but we waited and waited but the food didn't come. When I went back to the counter they had cleared the food from the display counter. Our food had totally been forgotten. This was bad kama after we had laughed at the table next to us as they had ordered and paid for 3 plates and they only brought one. Time for an upgrade of staff as the food was good and the view from the out side Seating is magic.

We stopped here for a coffee ahead of checking in at Waitakere Estate. Good muffins and coffee and incredible views. We were there on a working day so it wasn't too busy but the weekends must be pretty crazy. Worth a stop.

The Restaurant at Heritage Collection Waitakere Estate has magnificent views over the rainforest back to Auckland City and the Harbour. The Restaurant serves lunch, dinner and High Teas on Saturday and Sunday. Reservation are required.
We were the only guests for high tea. The offerings achieved a good balance between sweet and savoury. We enjoyed 90% of the morsels. Two sweet items let it down by being non- descript. The view was lovely, as were the Gardens. The hotel could do so much more to be dazzling. A warm fire in the lounge would have set the tone. The place is old, but not in a quaint, old world way, just dated. At NZ$35 per person, we still enjoyed it, but for us, it won't be a repeat experience.

Stopped by this bustling little cafe/ general store for a coffee and some supplies.
Coffee was OK, a little weak for a "strong coffee" but still OK.
The custard loaf and the spinach and feta pie however were really nice.
Overall a little hippy/ hipster Cafe and store that is pricey but tasty
