Reviews on European food in Quito, Pichincha Province, Ecuador. With a rich pre-Colombian history, Ecuador's capital was founded on the ruins of an Incan city but offers everything a modern traveler might need. It remains the least-altered historic center in Latin America and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Quito’s important sites include baroque gems like San Francisco and Santo Domingo monasteries, as well as La Compañía church and college. This huge city sprawls across a breathtaking Andean valley surrounded by volcanic peaks.

My girlfriend and I were so glad to have found this little gem! We thoroughly enjoyed 2 x delicious dinners here! The first night we ordered a small prosciutto pizza, spaghetti Bolognese, green salad and 2 cokes. All items were made quickly and tasted great!! They even gave us a complimentary plate of garlic bread! The second night we had another great small pizza ( ridiculously great value for $3!!!!) a really delicious lasagna, green salad and 2 cokes. Again all items were delivered quickly and tasted amazing!! Special mention needs to be made to the staff ( waitresses, chef & owner!)- they were exceptional! Not speaking very good Spanish we arenât always able to interact much with the staff however from the moment we were greeted we knew this place was different! The staff were so helpful, friendly and really made a big effort to ensure we enjoyed our experience with them. The price is also extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and the portions !! The bowls of pasta are huge! We cannot recommend this place enough! Ps- they have a great lunch menu for a very reasonable price but it finishes at 2pm and is extremely popular so the food goes quickly!! We arrived at 2.30pm and everything had be sold - the owner and the chef tried their best to see if anything was left but we were to late :(

My wife and I wound up at this place by chance and the food did not disappoint at all! It was amazing (my wife and I said that it's our new favorite place) We had pasta (me cheese and her bolognesa) both of them were nice, fresh pasta so you can imagine the taste. Our waiter was nice, the girl who passed our bill seemed angry, but just my perspective. Overall this is an A+ place. A little pricey, yet totally worth it.

We lived in Italy for three years, and one of the great things about the culinary scene there was that you could easily find simple, everyday restaurants, with absolutely delicious food. Thatâs what Al Mercato brings to Ecuador. Seeing it from the outside, the place, located in the lovely piazza of the bustling suburb of Cumbaya, looks almost like a hole in the wall. Inside, the space opens up a bit, with a casual, wood-accented decor. The real star is the food. Simple Italian food, executed to perfection. The lomo fino is one the best cuts of meat in the city. The egg plant parmesan is amazing. The lasagna bolognese superb. The tagliatelle with osso bucco ragú is delicious. And the dark chocolate panna cotta is a great way to finish. If youâre in town, and donât mind having a great meal, try it.

Was here with my wife, great romantic spot. Small little place, maybe 8-9 tables which for us make it a lot better. Great music.Fondue was excellent. They only had one waiter, but he manage to serve all the tables pretty good. For a couple of fondues, one cheese and one Mix of meats, a couple (2-4 ja!) glasses of wine you'll be looking at a $60 check.Parking spot is pretty small. Overall i would be back here with no doubts.

Of course, the food was excellent and we wound up eating here three times while we were in Quito. And yes the staff is excellent and go out of there way to please you, but for us, the best reason was Cristina Vizcaino. She's a hostess, a helper when serving and I guess a front end person. It was her personality that made her so outstanding and kept us coming back. Every business needs Cristina. The pasta is homemade as is almost everything else. We had meat dishes, pasta, salads, and enjoyed everything. Before we received our check they brought us the best gelato I ever tasted. If you're in Quito and don't eat here you will be missing a fantastic meal. Thanks Richard for your opinion, we always look up to serve our costumers in the best way we can. We are very proud for the staff we have, opinions like this are those that show us that what we do is pleasing to our customers, since you are the most important thing for us

One of the most famous Italian restaurant in Quito Ristorante Carmine It was with good luck that when Chef Carmine returned to Ecuador he found an old friend who was leaving the country and who had began the construction of a new Italian food restaurant i
We had dinner here on our last night in town. We were a party of six and were seated very quickly in the semi outdoor area. I had the penne with meatballs and I could not finish the whole dish because there was so much. The service and ambiance were great and it was nice to meet the owner from Salerno/New York City. It reminded me of a restaurant from my youth on Long Island.

Delite you with a five courses meal, with a glass of wine while you admire the beauty of the gardens, and enjoy in a house considered a cultural heritage of our beautiful ciy of Quito.Chez Jérôme is the restaurant you must visit in your trip.
It is the second time I have had the same problem with this restaurant. I called to make a reservation and BOTH times my table had been "mixed up" and I was given a bad table at the entrance of the restaurant. The owner tried too hard to be apologetic about it and that only made things worse. The food was OK but not up to my expectations for the very high price and all the hype about this place. There are better restaurants in Quito that cost a lot less.

In Maitane Restaurant passion, love and constancy is our shield; quality, taste and service is our strength; creativity and innovation is our greatest effort and achieving the satisfaction of our customers is our highest priority.
While in Quito we actually went to both Restaurant Maitane locations. The one in the Swisshotel was more upscale in the setting, but we really liked the original location on Avinda Pourtugal. It was a little tricky to find but was smaller and more intemate. We really enjoyed the paella ( one dish would easily do 3-4 people if you had any appetizers first). Also the tapas platter had a really nice selection of items. One of our group of 6 had the Spanish dessert which I don't remember the name, but was a bread soaked in milk that was fantastic .The chef/owner Christian was at both locations when we ate and he came to our table to check on our meal. The service was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend MaitaneHello Gordon, Thank you for your kind and wonderful review. It was a pleasure to have you in both restaurants and we are really glad you enjoyed our food. The dessert you mention is the Caramelized Torrijas. We hope you visit us again next time you visit Quito.
