This picturesque Umbrian city has a history that spans many eras. The city wall and arch are Etruscan; the sixth-century Sant'Angelo church was built atop a Roman temple; the town's cathedral is both Gothic and Renaissance. If you have a sweet tooth, visit the famous Perugina chocolate factory; if you have a full set of sweet teeth, visit during the Eurochocolate festival, held in October, when the entire town reportedly smells of chocolate.

An enchanting Relais, a romantic and exclusive retreat just 5 km from the center of Perugia, where you can forget the bustle of the city and regenerate your mind in the rolling Umbrian hills. You will find the warmth and attention of a finely restored historic home, with the services of a small charming hotel, where you can relax and enjoy the pool, the garden and the rich library that preserves a wide selection of books to discover at it’s best Perugia and Umbria. The Relais Casamassima is also a place for the celebration of civil marriages; can host receptions, birthday parties, dinners or lunches by reservation, or tastings of olive oil, wine and typical products.
We enjoyed four nights in a spacious suite at Relais Casamassima. We can't say enough about the responsive and knowledgeable staff, Lucetta and Alessia. They were always there to help and were very easy to communicate with. The accommodations are just as advertised. Do be aware that dinner, unless pre-arranged is no longer served daily. But the dinner we did arrange for our arrival day was excellent, as was breakfast every morning on the terrace.

I can only echo many previous reviews…… Sara Sposini’s dedication to ensuring that all of her guests have an enjoyable and memorable stay is superhuman! We left refreshed, feeling that we had been looked after with much care and attention. A wonderful atmosphere pervades the Abbazia and we felt so terribly fortunate to spend some time there. Thank you also to Jola; maker of the most comfortable bed and Sara’s mum; maker of super tasty honey cakes and tortilla! We stayed at Sara’s place for two weeks, having experienced a longer stay we feel confident in giving this heartfelt review.

We wrote a review for this lovely casale 4 years ago, when we stayed here while exploring Umbria. We had many challenges with our GPS, cell phone and rental car, all of which were improved by our host Nadia. (So above and beyond her responsibilities!) This June, we returned for more exploring, now feeling more comfortable in the area. Again, the warmth of the welcome we received, the quality of the accommodations and the magnificent breakfasts were awesome. We got great recommendations for restaurants in the area, and Nadia even gave us a tart for our family's train ride to the Amalfi Coast! Highly recommend.

Farm-house opened in 1999 composed of 5 apartments accommodating from 2 to 15 people, kitchen facilities, swimming pool, fishing pool, parking, breakfast and dinner on request.
It is rare to find such gracious and unpretentious hospitality. Everything from the grounds, to the food, and the accommodations speaks of the owners great desire that you feel welcomed like long lost family. Truly a memorable stay off the radar of most tourists. We spent five days here making road trips to nearby cities and towns, only to come "home" each evening to our cozy room and excellent cuisine next door.

We spent 2 days in Piccione and we received a very warm welcome and our host was very helpful. The place was very quiet and location was perfect between Perugia and Assisi. Breakfast is simple but fresh and offering a large choice. Rooms are a bit small and warm but price is excellent : it is a very good choice for the region and we had good restaurants 10 km around. Air conditionning would be great in August.

Landscape and beauty, warm reception by a couple Italian + Brazilian, with simple but outstanding real home made food; sheep, olives, muts, and other are locally produced; water streams; and an option to horse riding. It is located at about 30-40 minutes from the marvellous city of Perugia.
