Great looking interior update with original wood and rustic charm offset by a who-thought-that-was-a-good-idea freestanding gas fireplace with a fake stone pencil tile surround from the closeout aisle of a big box retailer as the central focal point. TicTacToe tables are a nice distraction. Could us checkers or chess also given the speed of service ;) Really pleasant and wonderful manager and waitstaff who try really hard but are hamstrung by a kitchen that sends out soup (strangely sweet but with the underpinnings of a delicious French Onion) WITH the entree, and can't seem to figure out that drinks should be delivered BEFORE your meal. Also, the table walk-around by the owner was earnest but insincere, with an out of place schmaltz replacing the genuineness and warmth that you find at locally owned nearby options in Greeley, Lackawaxen, and Hawley. Beer is inexpensive, which is good because the selection is thin and on the cheap end, otherwise drinks tend towards the not quite worth it pricier side. Even with the soup snafu, the guests that ordered salads weren't too much better off. A good selection of dressings were undermined as they were served in cafeteria ketchup cups with the scraggliest bits of wilted iceberg lettuce imaginable. Mashed potatoes were a flat soupy blob, filet mignons (yes, two, why not offer a normal plate with one?) were nicely seared, but overly salted, and overcooked with a coarseness that makes you think frozen. Flavorful sauce did not compensate for the dryness of the meat. Vegetable medley seemed big-bag variety and not locally inspired. Chicken Francese was bright and zesty but the pasta was dry by some standards, and again the consistency of the meat was questionable. Schnitzel seemed a tacked on afterthought to satisfy the customers of the previous iteration of the restaurant. The buffet had many of the same items from the menu but at nearly twice the twice of a la carte. Finding the sweet spot of local restaurant and upscale alternative is challenging, and so far Cuckoos Nest has made a valiant looking, if not yet tasting, attempt... if prices come down and/or quality goes up, this refresh of an old classic could become super successful this summer and an alternative during ski season! It's up to us! Give it a try!

Stopped in a few hours after the dinner rush for a few appetizers and a couple cosmos. The bartender served us at a table and was super friendly and accommodating. The bar was pretty full and most looked like regulars as far as we could tell. Everything we had was delicious! We would return!!

The fried calamari and clams in white sauce were delicious. The pizza was very good. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. You may bring your own bottle of wine. I will definitely go back.

This area is still country. While many people feel the place should be updated. There are no upscale and modern pizza places in this area. They have a full Italian menu. However, the staff is great and friendly. Food is a good quality. They have beer and wine and a nice size dining room. Great casual place to enjoy eating with family and friends

Joe&Lo is the way to go. Cheesey, I know. To start their pizza is delicious. It's flavorful, hot, fresh, and the crust is always perfect. Service is pretty decent along with price. I personally would recommend getting food to-go. It's 100% the best option between Honesdale and Hawley for your classic pizza. Better than Two Guys and way better than Elegante's.

I went on a Thursday night to hear my friends music. Every Thursday at 7:00PM there is fabulous live, jazz music. I'm vegan as is my whole family and was delighted to find the owners Floray and Jaffa, I'm sure this is not the correct spelling of their names, more than happy to accomodate. The salads are fresh and abundant. And Jaffa makes us the best veggy pizza we have ever had.

We dined at 5;30 to take advantage of the 4 course early bird specials â exceptional taste, exceptional value. Lovely historic building tucked into the Belvedere Hotel, gracious and attentive staff, wonderful experience with friendly residents at neighboring tables. A âmust dineâ location. (We recommend the crab stuffed mushroom hors dâoeuvres, baked salmon with artichoke hearts, chicken parmigiana). Thank you, Julie, for the lovely experience.
