My wife and I arrived at around 5 to celebrate her birthday. We were greeted immediately and seated immediately cuz we had reservations. Although at 5 time you should not have any problem even without the reservation. We decided to sit at the bar because the happy hour specials were not available in the dining room. Our server / bartender was very nice and very cordial and answered our questions that we had asked about the menu. He made a recommendation for dinner for me and it was excellent. The prices are upscale. But from what we got, they were definitely in line. The atmosphere in the place is very nice, background music is kept very low, and of course so was the lighting. You also have a choice of dining outside if the weather is not too hot and humid. When we mentioned to the bartender that we were celebrating a birthday. He said well that's worth a free dessert. This was unexpected, and very nice and appreciated. We are from out of town, state of Washington, and the next time we arrive in Pittsburgh we will definitely come here again to enjoy a nice dinner.

I had been to Hokkaido previously for both a lunch and a dinner, and though I had liked the lunch, I was less-than-impressed with the dinner. Recently I did the same two things -- I went for a lunch and a dinner. The lunch was rather good, not great, but at least average. I was back for a dinner, and the same dishes were not the same, and not nearly as good. I presume that it is a coincidence that both lunches were good and both dinners were not good, but it is certainly inconsistent, and at best average.

Dined alfresco this weekend and the food was a wonderful as ever. Stuffed Flounder, Chicken and Shrimp Clams with green sauce, Chicken Croquettes, Lobster Cannoloni, always perfect Sangria, outrageous sorbet for dessert and the ever attententiveness of our Captain - Manny! We could have been dining on the Iberian Penninsula - Mallorcas' flavors and service can not be equaled in the city. Consistently excellent.

We wanted a nice sit-down dinner on our last night of a long Steelers weekend. Steak & seafood are both featured here & we had a little of both. Our waitress connected with us immediately -- it was a quiet Sunday evening. She was welcoming & carefully explained the menu, each unique item & especially appreciated -- she said the sides should be plentiful if we had 2 -3. The shrimp was a preparation I had never had, swordfish was meaty, steak & lobster rocked ! Lemon drop martinis added bonus as the bartender had a heavy hand.
