Pennsylvania, United States Food Guide: 4 Diner food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Gettysburg

December 17, 2019 Weston Hennigan

Find out what Diner restaurants to try in Gettysburg. Gettysburg is steeped in the history of the Civil War. In 1863, it was the site of the epic Battle of Gettysburg, in which some 50,000 soldiers were killed. It is also, of course, the place where Abraham Lincoln delivered the immortal Gettysburg Address. The town itself is made up of houses, hotels and taverns dating back several centuries, but Gettysburg offers more modern travel and leisure activities, as well, like wine tastings, orchard tours, shopping and golfing.

As we'd been on a tour of Gettsyburg for several days which included breakfast, we wanted to try some place new on our last morning. This diner is a short walk from the Gettysburg Hotel. It's deceiving, as it's larger inside than it appears outside. There is a smaller front area with booths & long counters with stools with backs. There's a larger back dining room with booths & tables as well though. While they have a standard diner breakfast menu (e.g., no Eggs Benedict), our breakfasts were fine. FYI, they're open 24/7, & breakfast is always available.

If you love mixing the Confederate Flag into your breakfast, then this is your place. Food was ok, but it was a limited breakfast menu. No corned beef hash.

We had dinner here tonight after leaving Gettysburg on the recommendation of a local. My son and I had grilled chicken with grilled bell peppers and onions served over rice with mixed vegetables on the side. The chicken was not completely cooked in the center, but the outer pieces were not bad. The rice was a basic pilaf. The grilled vegetables were good. The mixed vegetables were awful. Like really bad. My littlest had a plain pancake. It was really good. My husband had wings and loaded fries. The wings were average at best, the fries were as well.
