Reviews on Mexican food in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States. Pennsylvania Dutch country is a fascinating destination to explore. Visitors will get a glimpse of farm life as it was in the early 1800s. Visit markets and farm stores for homemade shoofly pie and fresh produce, or shop for a handmade quilt. President James Buchanan's elegant home, Wheatland, is no less historic but contrasts sharply to the simpler Pennsylvania Dutch heritage sites in Lancaster. Consider a side trip to nearby Hershey, home of Hershey Park and the Hershey chocolate factory.

If you haven't visited El Serrano along Lancaster's Columbia Avenue lately, you haven't visited El Serrano. Or, perhaps it is more appropriate to say, you haven't visited Peru. Every square inch of the Latin-American restaurant has been extensively redesi
After trying to find a unique and eclectic restaurant in downtown Lancaster on a super busy Friday night, we gave up and searched for alternates â and found el Serrano as a highly-recommended Peruvian and Latin restaurant not far from downtown. What we found was much more than weâd expected!Situated in a spectacular building, this is no chain Mexican restaurant. The architecture seems authentic, and thereâs a central courtyard where we enjoyed a very talented guitar player. Moving inside, we opted for dinner at the bar, where service was very attentive and the noise level allowed us to enjoy a conversation with ourselves and other patrons over dinner. The food was very well prepared, and served hot. We enjoyed the Gordo combo platter with a cheese enchilada, perfectly prepared pork chop, and chicken fajitas, along with an order of fish tacos. A side of pico de gallo added the spice I wanted. All in all a great find on our vacation swing through the area. If weâre ever back this way, El Serrano will be a must-visit!

I was surprised how good and even more importantly how authentic the food at La Cocina Mexicana is. From the outside the place literally looks like a hole in the wall. However I have found the best Mexican restaurants are the ones which are hole in the walls. Plus the prices of all the food at La Cocina was extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend eating here if you are in Lancaster and want to have an enjoyable dining experience. Good food at good prices. For your money you will get to have very authentic Mexican food.
