This is basically a take out restaurant... While they do have a few tables, it's not very condusive to eating in. That being said, the food is consistantly good.
Tried Bellybusters today for the first time. Bottom line: Italian sub was good, could be really good with some tweaks. Friendly service. Iâll dine there again. As I was in Oxford for other purposes, I sought out a local sub shop to try: Bellybusters fit the bill! I ordered my litmus test of a sub shop in this region of the country: The Italian Sub, how they define it. Included lettuce, tomato, onion and seasoning. I skipped the pickles (personal preference) and went with both mayo and oil (Iâm not a purist; I know what I like).Bellybusters is a small place, with not a lot of seating for in-house dining; I imagine they do a lot more takeout business anyway. The service was friendly and prompt (though I was the only in-house customer at the time). They were just gearing up for the day when I arrived â the phone was ringing constantly. Thatâs a good sign! For some reason, the restroom was locked and not available to customers. Call me crazy, but I like to wash my hands before dining. Not an option today, unfortunately. My sub was made in good time, and on my way I went. Upon eating the sub at home, I found the bread appropriately chewy, such that it was hard to take a sandwich bite without the innards squeezing out (this is a good thing). The flavor was⦠well, kind of bland. All the ingredients seemed fresh, and the proportions were just right (NOT overstuffed with lettuce, thank you!!). But it didnât stand out or make me think, âwow, this is good.â Fortunately, they did NOT do the most common incorrect thing in sub making: It wasnât overly salted. Salt does not make a mediocre sub good â it makes a mediocre sub more salty. Kudos on this. So, I diced up a pepperoncini pepper. Along with that and a shake of red pepper flakes, the sub came to life. The ham and salami and cheese flavors all stood out, enough that I want to try Bellybusters again, though I might customize my order more the next time, adding hots.
good food, great atmosphere with all the chip business going on around. Love the whole story as to how the factory came to be with Mr. and Mrs Herr. Gotta love people who worked hard and made something of their dreams, they worked hard for what they have. Nothing given to Mr. and Mrs Herr. I only hope the kids and generations taking over will be as good to their employees and staff! Being kind and to appreciate your employees goes along way!
