Owners have made a beautiful place and thereâs great beer. But......fries were cold, no straws given and worst of all a 50 cent up charge for a side of cheese and $4 charge for fries instead of chips. Câmon, the prices on the food are fairly high already.

My husband and I visited Mifflinburg for their Christmas Market and booked at the Scarlet D in order to walk to the market which is conveniently located just a few blocks away. From our experience, here are our suggestions if you decide to take advantage of their great location to the market for next year. Expect to check in after five. We were told that the woman who cleans the rooms works another job and doesnât come in until 4:30. Your room may not be ready until after 5, something we learned the hard way and not until after we arrived. I believe another reviewer commented on this issue so I believe it may be ongoing. Our suite on the third floor was chilly...take warm pajamas. We asked for a blanket and were provided with another thin bedspread. The room was fairly basic but the bathroom was newer. No hairdryer that I saw, and no breakfast. It was an okay visit for one night. Their biggest asset in my opinion is their location. It is a tavern so you can purchase meals. We ate at the Market so I canât comment on the food. I found the lobby more appealing than our room. My husband and I generally book in historic inns and hotels when possible so we are used to the quirks that often come with these establishments. That being said, I was still taken back by what I consider a very late check in time. Plan your trip accordingly.
Where to eat American food in Mifflinburg: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Basically, this is a really traditional bar with karaoke and live bands on select dates. But there is a separate room for families to dine. The service was very good, no complaints. The food was very inexpensive, traditional America fare. We had a $12 New York Strip that was cooked to perfection, a mushroom Swiss burger that was juicy and tender, a BLT and the Saturday special, haddock. It is VERY bare bones, no fancy decor, just paper placemats, tables and chairs. I was surprised and pleased.
