Ok.....sit back, relax, and get ready for one of my longer ones.....Background: Im originally from this area of Pennsylvania, but like many others in my family, I moved to New Jersey many years ago. That being said, Im very familiar with the unique pizzas from this region, and will gladly drive 2.5 hours on a weekend to pick up several "TRAYS" from my favorite places. Yes, kiddies, don't say "PIES". No such thing here. Its all about half trays, and whole trays, and single crusts, and double crusts, and secret, family-recipe blends of 6 cheeses that resemble American (but really arent) and come out of old ovens in molten states that will stick to every part of your mouth once you inhale them. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, "This AINT your local, New York-style pizza, for sure!"Some folks NOT from this area of Pennsylvania who try this type of pizza hate it, and you will see comments on many different sights saying just that. Others, like my family and I, simply love it....basically cant get enough of it, but the distance makes it more of an ....."occasion" pizza, rather than the weekly, Thursday night dinner. So...with all that being said, why did I start my review of an Irish Pub with a story about gooey, cheesy, pizza??????'Cause this place has some of the best in the region, and much, much more to offer. My friends, family, and I have been here 3 times in the last 12 months, and we absolutely love the following:great, friendly, helpful serviceSpecials that will have you jumping in the car right now....how about these: dozen steamed clams for 99 cents on Friday and Saturday nights....kids under 8 eat for free on Sundays....8 ounce amazing burgers for...READY????? $1.00 if you buy a beverage with it on Wednesdays.....I could list 6 more that are all worthwhile, but c'mon....a buck for an 8 ounce burger?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The pierogis here are worth the trip alone......OMG. OMG!!!!!! You get three massive, stuffed pillows of food for about $4.00, and we love them smothered in melted butter with sautéed onions.....so freaking "melt-in-your-mouth" good, you will order a second portion before you finish the first....Beers on draft for....................Nah...not gonna mention it....if youre from Jersey or NY, and youre used to shelling out big bucks for beers and drinks, you will freak out when you see the prices here...Ive taken 10 people here from NJ, and they all started looking for houses to buy when they saw the huge difference in the cost of food alone.Suffice it to say 7 big eaters had pierogis, pizza, burgers, and lots of beers here one day for lunch and we actually made the waitress double check the prices because we though she made an error when we all saw how cheap it was!!!!!!And then there is that Pizza.............................We love Andys, Angies, Lous, and a half dozen more in Carbondale and Old Forge, but this place rates right up there, or surpasses most, if not all of them. Great crust....unique blend of the usual cheeses that they wont talk about...(yeah, yeah...its "American" cheese...yeah....I love those comments....)Try the cheese steak....or just the plain....if you have never had this style before, you will be in for a surprise.....but I'll bet good money you will LOVE!So, the bottomline:$20 for gas to drive thereCouple bucks for tollsBUT TRUST ME: this hidden gem?????Priceless.Ciao!KJ

Three family members had dinner at Pasquale's this past week. We celebrated two birthdays and found the atmosphere very pleasant. As a matter fact when we sang happy birthday to one another the entire restaurant joined in. The food was very very good and very very generous. The prices are reasonable. The staff was very polite very professional and very welcoming.

The dough is made fresh everyday, the sauce is homemade the Pagash is amazing. Everything there is made with love and pride. They have been around for well over 35 years! You can't beat their food from pizza, stromboli, white pizza, calzone and hoagies. The hot wing hoagie is the most amazing hoagie I have ever had! You can't go wrong, family owned and operated and a local favorite.

First time visitor. "Initial" impression was good. Nice outdoor covered deck, appears to be well maintained. Seated on one of the high tables near the banister. At the time thinking, I could see me coming back to this place. THEN it started going downhill...........FAST! The table had routered grooves to make it look like it was made out of several boards. The grooves were full of dirt. Don't know when it was cleaned last. Impression of waitress was one of a don't really care attitude. That proved correct. Did not order alcohol. Soft drinks were in cans with plastic cups. YUK! Ordered a half rack of ribs. When the food arrived, it was not a half rack, but six bones with the sparse meat on them cut off the rack. Looks like they are trying to up their profit margin by charging high price and offering minimal quantity. Sauce was bland. Waitress never came back to ask how everything was, or if she can get us anything else. When check arrived, my clothes went out of style waiting for her to come back to take payment. Do yourself a favor and avoid this clip joint.

This is worth a lunch stop in this fine old city. The food here was made with special attention and where can you find a 12 inch sub for under $6.00? Didn't try the pizza as it looked a bit tired but in this area all pizzas are pretty good.

The cheese pizza was delicious and consistent with the kind of pizza we've gotten from other Nina's locations. The wingbites though, we ordered Cajun, we not spicy like ones we've gotten from another Nina's location. Unsure of which spice level is the standard...Biggest complaint about this location is that they won't answer the phone in a timely manner. I recommend ordering online, it's faster than sitting on hold waiting for someone there to answer.

Royal Pizza of Carbondale

Reviewed By HQs_mom

My husband and I love jalapeños on our pizza- but surprisingly, most pizza places in our area don't offer them as a topping! We were EXCITED to see that Royal Pizza did!We had a pepperoni and jalapeño pizza -- it was excellent! The crust had a buttery garlic flavor and the sauce was great.However....The pierogies with butter & onions were underwhelming - the pierogies were small and the onions were small chopped bits. Not exactly the standard in the area for the dish. The hot wings were just ok. The bleu cheese was pretty horrible- but it was included (some places in the area add an up charge for it).The cannoli wasn't great. The shell was dry and flavorless. Overall, the delicious pizza made up for the shortcomings of the rest of the menu items we tried. In the future, we'll stick to ordering just pizza.
