Burgatory

Yesterday was our first time to try Burgatory. We were looking forward to a great burger but instead we had terrible over cooked, overpriced burgers paying an extra $1.5 for each tiny toppings. We waited over an hour to get our food too! My bun was terrible! I ordered a potato bun and it was dry, crusty and flavorless. I found out afterwards it was gluten free. I would have never order it, had I been told this!

Good place to stop to watch a game and have a few beers. Friendly service and a decent beer selection, we tried the pizza which was average, should have went for a sandwich.

We had an excellent lunch at Michael A' Restaurant! They have a large variety of Italian entrees! This is a family owed restaurant in which the owners are immigrants from Italy. They cook authentic Italian foods! The sauce is excellent! The restaurant is nicely decorated decorated with pictures from Italy. Enjoyed a great lunch and ordered dinner for my family to go!

We always sit at the bar where we have always had very good service. Drinks are good, though overpriced, which is why it gets a 4 from me. They actually do have vegetarian/vegan options, unlike so many other restaurant in Oakmont which claim to but don't.

I attended a bridal shower at the Hoffstots Cafe. The buffet was excellent. We began with a delicious bread with dipping oil at the table and then we were served a salad with a variety of lettuces with a delicious dressing. The buffet items were hot and very well presented. I enjoyed the chicken Marsala, the lasagna, the rice dish and the grilled vegetables. The service at the buffet table and around the tables was excellent. To top things off, we were offered a wide selection of mini desserts. Be careful, the many wonderful minis soon equaled two regular sized desserts. Also, servers kept the beverages filled and were very attentive to the entire crowd.

Made a reservation for my birthday dinner several days in advance, based on recommendations of friends. It was for a Wednesday at 4:30pm. Arrived at 4:00 when they opened. We introduced ourselves, and said how happy we were to be there, and that is was our first time there. Met with stone cold, unwelcoming service from that moment on. No smile, no welcome, felt very uncomfortable. I expected much more from what I had heard. Our tab was over $200, and food outstanding, but service was unexplainably rude. We were passed by more times than I care to say. Had to ask for bread basket; other tables offered pepper mill, etc. It was humiliating, and sad. We could not have been nicer, friendlier, but it was very apparent they cater to the regulars. Only found out our waitress/bartender name by looking at the recept. Birthday ruined. With the Oakmont bakery moved to the new location, I suggest they raise the bar on their welcome mat to encourage new guests. They missed out on us! We love to eat, drink, and we tip well! Your loss.

I’d like to know what dish people ate to give 4/5 stars....The atmosphere, service, and salad was excellent and promising, then came the entree...Scrod English style has some bland bread crumb stuff spread on the fish that was not visually or taste appealing. The chicken Marsala didn’t taste like it was seasoned properly...neither of us finished our meal... place is way over rated and we won’t be back ....

The Pub at 333

We had the pastrami and swiss, which was excellent. At first glance, it might seem a bit excessive to charge $14 for a sandwich with fries, but the former is so large and the latter of such a generous portion size that this ended up being two meals for me--and two filling meals at that. So the price is really a bargain, especially if you don't eat like a linebacker. I can also say that the sandwich made for excellent leftovers, so don't be afraid to take it with you. It'll hold up. The only drawback was the fries, which had a decent flavor, but were limp and soggy and did not hold up well as leftovers (few fries do). This might be one of those many cases where they are frying in vegetable oil and need to switch to superior but supposedly "less healthy" animal fat for a crisper, tastier, all-around better fry. If that's the case, to be fair to the Pub at 333, they are not the only ones doing this (if they are doing it). Misgivings with the fries notwithstanding, the wonderful sandwiches and generous portions will have us coming back.

Oakmont is a cool place to visit (and presumably even more so to live in). There are plenty of great places to eat and shops to visit. Casey’s is a fun looking place and we absolutely loved our server, Dolce Vita (she says that’s really her name). Reviews on the omelet were favorable, the raisin French toast was well-received, but the club sandwich and turkey Devonshire were disappointing. One of our companions had been there previously and she felt it was not up to its former standards. I would try it again, maybe we just chose the wrong items from the menu or caught them on an off day.
