Find out what American restaurants to try in Carlisle. With a long history dating back to before the American Revolution, it's not a surprise that Carlisle is full of historic treasures, including a church once attended by George Washington and a courthouse damaged by artillery during the Civil War. Despite this impressive heritage, the city is most famous for being Pennsylvania's "automotive capital," hosting ten annual car, truck, and motorcycle shows that are attended by a half a million people each year.

Here for dinner with several camping friends. Most everyone ordered something different so we got to see and hear about many menu items. The "seafood" platter was a joke...poor quality frozen "stuff. Calimari (over-cooked and rubbery) wasn't even mentioned but was on the plate instead of clams. Three of us didn't event try to finish the plate - We are from the Chesapeake bay area and this isn't "seafood". Pork chops were large and tasty. Chicken fried steak was acceptable. I had Prime rib - a large cut , cooked as ordered, could have used more spices/rub. Sides - many were offered - "pepper Cabbage", a surprise of green pepper and cabbage in a blah brine juice. Broccoli and cheese - ok, but swimming in warm water.Service was fast and friendly, waitress very polite and accommodating. Had to argue with the manager to get the "price" shown on the "specials" board in the lobby. You can do better elsewhere!

We were staying close by at the new Comfort Inn. This restaurant was close by the hotel and since we got in late at 7:00 p.m. on a Sunday we wanted something filling and quick. The staff was attentive and helpful. The place was very clean. My husband had a pizza and wanted roasted peppers on it but they did not have them. Instead they offered to saute some green peppers and add them to the pizza was really going the extra mile to accommodate him. I had a stromboli. Both were good. The stromboli was huge so had to take most of it back to the hotel! Just loaded with cheese. They do not serve wine or beer but I noticed the menu said BYOB.You can't get into this little strip mall from the front of the restaurant. The driveways to get in and out are in the back.

This feels like a diner but better. The service is friendly and efficient and the food is good. They serve some typical diner food but at better quality. The gyro platter is very filling. The most unique item is the hotchee dog. I remember eating something similar in northern NJ but nothing like it around here. Its a grilled hot dog with chili onions and mustard, you can get cheese as an option but I usually skip it. Tastes much better than the pretty common description might imply. IMPORTANT NOTE: Restaurant is CASH ONLY.

As if the third time wasn't enough, successive visits continue to impress. Had the Mixed Grille which included 2 very nice entrée portions and 2 sides, and at a very reasonable price to boot. As long as the weather is accommodating, recommend dining on the deck. Must try the sea scallops and stuffed shrimp with crab imperial. Enjoy!

Brick is a modern, informal restaurant with good food and service in downtown Carlisle. The décor is modern and airy, with high ceilings and big windows. Outside seating is shaded and very pleasant. Fina bill very was a very reasonable $20 per person. Highly recommended.A friend made reservations for our group of nine people to have lunch outside. We arrived on time, and our friends were already seated waiting for their drinks. The service was excellent and patient, taking care not to interrupt conversations of this mini reunion. I had the Lobster Roll was very good, and others who ordered the Spinach Salad and the Fish Tacos gave their food two-thumbs up. In fact, everyone gave their food two-thumbs up.We went to Brick on a sunny afternoon and appreciated both the outside seating and the shade. Since outside seating is at the back, it was fairly quiet. Great lunch!

Southern smoked BBQ with homemade dry rub, bbq sauces and sides. We also provide buffet style on-site catering services
Trip advisor led us to here for a lunch stop on a recent road trip and was it was an absolute winner! The bbq is dry rubbed and there are four sauces to choose- I had the very tasty Kansas City style. We ordered the pulled pork sandwiches. My husband also had the perfectly cooked collard greens. He who rarely likes eating out declared it all excellent. I had the hand cut fries (hot and tasty) and we shared the cole slaw. Delicious- wish we lived closer to come again and again!
