The 80's Guesthouse is the latest vintage guesthouse by Old Penang Guesthouse. It is located at 100 year old shop houses in Georgetown, Penang. The concept of renovation rests on a clear contrast of what is old and new. All effort has been made to preserve as much of the character of the existing building as possible.
i arrived in penang in the morning, so i asked the staff if i could do early check in, but they said it's unavailable until 2pm. when i arrived at the hostel, the door was locked. i called and the staff told me to wait as the other staff is coming over from the other guesthouse to do check in for me. i waited for almost half an hour then the staff arrived. it is disappointing and it is very tiring to wait and wait. other than that, everything is fine

I stayed here for a couple of nights, had another booking in town, and then came back for the rest of my stay in Penang. It was like coming home! I love the place. It’s casual, it’s beautiful, the location couldn’t be better, and it’s very reasonable. The staff is lovely, the owner is great, my room was sparkling clean, and the whole place is a feast for the eyes!

Hotel grade rooms designed to provide holiday makers with affordable yet comfortable rooms. Each suite is equipped with queen/king/loft rooms, super fast Wifi, complimentary water/coffee/tea, complimentary breakfast, ironing services, and laundry services.
The building where the room is placed is very dodgy. However the moment u step in to their hotel you will be amazed with Service, friendliness, design and cleanliness. Very well managed and amazed how a small space can be managed such a way. Breakfast is prepared internally no option but I think it’s fine. Coffee is free flow. Would recommend this place

I have a very good stay for 4 days at Red Inn Court. The owners are very friendly and always giving smile everytime we meet. Check in process was so easy, even though I didn't get any towel. When check in, you'll be asked for MYR 30 for room deposit. Plus: (+) Hostel is close to Rapid Penang bus stop. From the airport you can get down at Little India (Lebuh Chulia). From this spot or Penang Muzium you can go travel around Penang. It's very close to the hostel, for approximately 5 minutes walking. (+) For you who are Muslim, this hostel is very close to Kapitan Keling Mosque. You can clearly hear adzan (prayer calling) from this hostel. (+) You can find a lot of local cuisine in the surroundings. There are so many food choices you can take to eat. You're advisable to eat Nasi Kandar, Koay Teow, Penang Laksa, Hokkien Mee, Putu Mayong, Pasembur, and Popiah. They're the best quality food in town. (+) This hostel provides you a lot of tourist brochures inside their lobby. Free to take. You can freely take Penang Tourist Map, Penang Tourism Calendar of Events, Marking Georgetown, Penang Street Food, and so many more. By reading those references, I guarantee you wouldn't be lost in Penang. (+) This hostel offers its vintage style, precisely Chinese-vintage-style. I love it. There are so many rooms inside. (+) They serve you free simple breakfast, like bread, sandwich, fruits, etc. Free flow tea and coffee. (+) They have room service, so for you who stay more than one night, don't be worried, they'll clean your room, your bed, your blanket, etc. (+) The room is equipped with fan and air conditioner. It's completely sufficient to make you feel comfortable. (+) Because of its location, you'll be easy to find halal foods nearby. It's also strategic to go everywhere: State Court, KOMTAR, State Museum, Esplanade, City Hall, market, etc. Minus: (-) You maybe find the comments that the receptionist girl are rude. But I don't think so. She's clearly given me helps. I think that she's just "polite", not friendly. But the owners are very friendly. You can hire the motorcycle. For you who come from Indonesia or Brunei, the Madame is able to speak Malay/Bahasa. It will help you so much. Don't be hesitant to talk to her. (-) You will not find a large locker. There is a small locker behind your bed. It's small, not too large, but for me it's enough to place your precious belongings. It can only be opened by your own key so don't worry if your possessions can be stolen or not. (-) They have enough shared bathrooms, but there is no hot water inside. By the way, the bathrooms are clean. (-) When you firstly enter your room, you maybe find that it is a little humid/moist inside. I think it is because of air conditioning system. The room is small but the air conditioner is so powerful. (-) Personally, they didn't give me a towel (even though I brought mine). But they did give towels to every guest and I didn't get it. It's like a little unfair, subjectively. My rate: 8/10. Overall I had a very good stay here. Even though there are so many better hostel nearby, this hostel still offers you appropriate price and comfotable room to stay. For you who'd be traveling here and choose this hostel to stay, please kindly book through Traveloka or Tiket.com app. You would find much cheaper price there than the other app or booking sites. For many considerations, maybe I'll decide to come back to this hostel next time. Thank you, Red Inn Court!

I can highly recommend this place! It's very safe as you need your card for many doors. It's very modern and the staff is fun and friendly. The room was very clean, super comfy, and had everything I needed.

The Frame Guesthouse is three storey heritage shophouse in Georgetown, Penang which previously a frame maker shop. Based on the belief in authenticity, functionality and material that age beautifully, we chose to restore the highly necessary in the guesthouse and hence preserve the rest. Much of this space was left as it was found before the renovation with rough, peeling walls and electrical cables installed on the surface. The guesthouse which is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, near to most of the famous tourist attraction. It is a best accommodation for traveler who looking for unique and unforgettable stay on budget.
Booked here for New Year’s Eve and ended up staying four nights. There is literally zero vibe here so if you’re looking for a social place not the one. This wasn’t an issue for us though. The hostel is in an amazing local. Super close to love lane. Not a far walk from the ferry. Lots of street food around. Overall the stay was good. The breakfast goes until noon which is a big plus. It’s basic but really filling at the same time. The rooms were clean as well as the bathrooms. The sheets were a little too stained for me but I am picky that’s why I travel with a silk liner. The air con was great. The staff were quite helpful in helping us get around. The downsides: The wifi would cut out quite a bit. This happened a lot at night and was rather annoying. And the hostel is right across the street from a mosque. We were woken up every single morning at 5am and then again at 6am with the noise from the mosque. It was frustrating because after the 5am wake up it would be hard to fall back asleep but you could always count on the 6am to keep you up even longer. I’m sure if the room was a little further back from the street it wouldn’t have overly affected us. Just a warning that it is a little noisy here. We would stay again despite both of these negatives.
