Discover Restaurants offering the best Mediterranean food in Messini, Peloponnese, Greece. Messini (Greek: Μεσσήνη) is a municipal unit (dimotiki enotita) and seat (edra) of the municipality (dimos) of Messini within the regional unit (perifereiaki enotita) of Messenia in the region (perifereia) of Peloponnese, one of 13 regions into which Greece has been divided. Before 2011 the same hierarchy prevailed, according to Law 2539 of 1997, the Kapodistrias Plan, except that Messenia was a nomos and the Municipal unit was a locality (topiko diamerisma). The dimos existed under both laws, but not with the same constituents.

Came here with my husband for dinner last week during our stay at Kalamata. Had a reservation. NIce table outside, friendly and attentive staff. Had beetroot salad (their speciality) and chicken gyros. Presentation was excellent, however, I felt that the dish was not well balanced at all. The salad consisted of about 17 pieces of beetroot, 3 very thin slices of apple, crushed wallnut, a lot of balsamico and a yougurt sauce. All I could feel was the beetroot and A LOT of balsamico.Other ingredients did not add any taste to the dish.Chicken gyros - again, very nice presentation, delicious bread and sauce, however, a lot of VERY SALTED chicken (chicken itself was very tender and tasty), however, again, it was VERY salty. The bill was 30 euros for 2 without wine. I feel that the meal did not live up to our expectations.

We have eaten here 2 years running whilst staying at nearby Neilson Messini Beachclub. There are three local Tavernas within walking distance and this is our favourite. Always a warm welcome. Tasty Greek food - the honeyed halloumi is a must! They use their own olive oil. And they provide free desserts. We'll be back.

This restaurant is a few minutes walk along the beach from the Neilson resort. They will pick you up if you phone ahead, and a lift back along the beach afterwards. The menu is very similar to all th other restaurants in the area, but we think the quality is better (similar prices too). We had amazing grilled fish and salads.Yes, the service is slow at times, but its lovely to sit and watch the sun set over the bayDefinately try it - so many poeple just walk up the road to the three restaurants together, but this family deserve the business too.

This new restaurant is a nice oasis on the main square with some great dishes made with local produce. We had the Greek salad which has a lovely honey dressing and some very tasty local cheese instead of the usual feta. We then had mains of chicken pasta with thyme and white sauce, which was rich and tasty, and the pork with potatoes which had a wonderful ginger dressing and was cooked beautifully. The prices were very reasonable and service was very friendly!Thank you for visiting the GINGER and glad that you enjoyed our dishes !!! We will be happy to serve you again !!!

I've been with friends for lunch to this restaurant, we've had beef in tomato sauce and pork cooked in ''kioupi''. Both dishes were delicious, but I strongly recommend pork cooked in ''kioupi'', taste was excellent. Found it when walking in Kalamata and it was a great surprise because we saw the reviews after being there. They have a nice terrace, itâs full of local people and the waiters speak good english. If you want to try real greek food (pita, greek salad,...), very tasty and for a good price, this is a great place.
