This is truly a hidden gem! It a complete throwback to another time period with incredible service, real home made root beer that is by far the best I've ever had! Not to mention an owner (red) that truly enjoys what he still does. Yes you will actually meet red who will make his way around and greet everyone like they are family not just customers! Did I mention the food? The BEST!

Locally, family owned restaurant that specializes in allergy friendly menu items and great family service! The owner has Celiac /is vegetarian/non GMO and understands the importance of preparing allergy friendly meals. There is a play area for the children and great ice cream to choose from for dessert. Wraps, Sandwiches, homemade soups, burgers, hot dogs and more. One of the first MI restaurants to feature gluten free, Quinoa and Kale. Not to scare off the burger loving customer, we cater to all. Best handmade patties and all beef hot dogs with homemade chili sauce and more! The business is currently up for sale but still operating, hoping to find someone to continue the 42 year tradition of The Sugar Bear.
Was very disappointed with this ice place. Good ice cream, but the kids (not one adult was there supervising) that work there just complain and talk among themselves. Not friendly at all and very unprofessional. Owners son came in and thought he was the boss but didn't offer to help. Bathrooms were not clean.

The locals sit together at the counter and exchange the news and views. The place has been here forever and it shows. This is as authentic as America gets.
I had the Turkey dinner (lunch) which was just like mom's leftovers.
The NY strip looked excellent.
Super friendly help (I think they are family!). Great value, excellent good old American home cooking food served super fast...or you can take your time.
Don't let the rustic look fool you...it is the real deal and they care.

At La Cantina in Paw Paw, Michigan, we pair excellent hand-crafted Italian food cooked by great chefs with a casual and fun atmosphere. We offer a great casual fine dining experience. Our homemade sauce blend compliments any of our pastas and Italian meats. We offer veal, New York strip, certified black angus filet, lobster, mussels, walleye, and other seafoods and are even known for our mouth-watering BBQ ribs. And as the first restaurant to offer pizza in the Southwest Michigan area, our hearth-baked pizzas are sure to delight. With a large selection of appetizers, dessert specials, full bar, and wine offerings, you may come in for a snack and ending up staying for the evening enjoying delicious food and great conversation. La Cantina was founded in 1936 by Amo and Rose Scotese and continued by the efforts of their grandchildren and daughter Norma, who still shows up ready to work every day-even at the age of 92. When you're here, the La Cantina staff will make your feel right at home as part of the family, and your
Terrible service. The restaurant wasn't even busy and we couldn't get drink refills. After seeing tables with bread I asked our waiter for some (after I flagged him down) and his response was, "Oh, did you want bread?". Wow. Sauce is super gross. I couldn't eat my spaghetti and neither did my son. Horrible texture and sweet like jar sauce from the grocery store. My daughter asked for red sauce on her pizza so of course she got white. Sort of. Most of the pizza was crust with maybe half the pizza with sauce, cheese, etc. My mother's chicken parm was a joke. When our absent waiter finally did return and asked how our meals were, I told him they weren't anything we liked. I don't think here was anyway he could have cared less. The response was, "That's too bad". Stellar customer service! Lovely location though. View of the river was nice and the patio looked like it would have been nice to eat at (without food from the restaurant). Our table was wobbly, but at least the bathroom had a sign on the lock with how to work it. Seriously. I only now wish I had taken a picture.

We strive to offer fresh delicious breakfast and lunch as well as full service catering with the best customer service.
I've lived in this town for 15 years and didn't know it existed. I just happened by it one day. I brought the family there for breakfast. It's cute enough. With the food came a "home made muffin" which was clearly from a box mix. When asked how I wanted my bacon, I replied crispy. The wait for the food wasn't too long, but we were one of two tables at the time. When the food arrived, the server said as she put my plate down "crispy bacon". It was rubbery at best. The rest of the food was ok. They haven't impressed me enough to frequent their establishment.

Family owned and operated. Food made from scratch with ingredients you can pronounce. Organic and Gluten free options. We bake all our breads and buns and also fresh made bakery items daily. The grocery stores is packed full of one of a kind salsas, jams, dressings bulk items and more. We also carry a full line of liquor and lottery.
My husband and I stopped in for lunch & was greeted & served by Sharon with a huge smile! ALL of their food is homemade. The special yesterday was their club sandwich and side for only $6.00! What a treat! It was huge on sourdough bread and I chose the side salad that was with fresh mixed greens (no iceberg lettuce there!) fresh cut up veggies & a fabulous balsamic vinaigrette that is also homemade. Yummy! My husband had the gyro and loved it. Sharon brought out a sample of their beef tortilla soup to try. Very good with a kick. Nice gesture on her part. We will definitely be back! Worth the drive from Battle Creek!

This is a microbrewery. Here is a newspaper article about it:http://www.mlive.com/kalamabrew/index.ssf/2011/01/take_the_plunge_at_paw_paw_bre.html
Small brewery but really tasty beers. They also have great paninis and sandwiches. Stopped on our way into town and enjoyed it! Cold beer on a hot day- delicious! Some unique flavors with a changing menu . Ask for a sample- they'll let you try before you order a full glass. Fun place- check it out!

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday with my betrothed. She had tacos (awesome) and I had an olive burger (tasty but way over cooked). Service was great and the atmosphere was nice too. I like that they had 5oz beers. Perfect with lunch.

Working in Paw Paw we have lunch from/at Amore regularly. The food is always delicious, never had a meal that we didn't think was outstanding. Franco, Tony and the rest of the staff are also fantastic, going above and beyond to make sure you have a fantastic meal.
