My wife and I walked 1 km west on the main drag from our hosteria Kau Si Aike to this recommended and popular restaurant. We had scouted it out along with many others yesterday, finding this one nearly full at lunch and customers enjoying large portions of all types of food. We chose a corner table on the 1st floor that could seat 60 and the loft would nearly equal that. A waitress brought menus, followed by a basket of sliced baguette and a small bowl of garlic and carrot spread. The vast menu has soups, salads, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, grilled chicken and meat. Several draft beers and many covered counter desserts were available. The 2 waitresses were kept busy but the rate of service clearly depended on the kitchen. We ordered and our drink arrived, followed shortly by our shared meal, grilled chicken with smashed potatoes with 2 slices of lemon, and a bowl of pumpkin soup (asked for it to be reheated). The food was filling, very tasty, and reasonable, totaling 370Ap=$20.50. This place is a real winner and a âgo toâ spot for people of all ages.

We were recommended this place by our hotel as we were looking for somewhere with decent craft beer, it didn't disappoint, there were only two options but both were excellent. We were not expecting the food to be anything special but were pleasantly surprised when it arrived the piadina's are absolutely delicious and a must, they are kind of like a cross between a sandwich and a pizza, perfect pairing for the beer.

This is a really great bar in the center of town that serves microbrewery beers, whiskeys, hot chocolate and coffee drinks. It is also a book store fillefilland there
Their empanadas are quite good, however, tried their lamb stew also which was beyond bad. It was definitely not home made, felt like it was taken from a can and heated up. The meat was industrialised cut and there was no taste to it. Doubt it was even lamb. Could have been anything. It looked more like something you would feed your dog. The service was non existent. Took a very long time to get someone to come take our order and it was even harder to get someone to come with a bill. The place was not busy at all. Stay away from this place.

"Don Guerra" is a restaurant / brewery that is on the north part of the city, near the El Chálten trail. It was our favorite restaurant on the city on the past (Autumn season), and we decided to return last year on Spring. It has a more cozy and pub-oriented atmosphere, like an alpine cottage with related decoration, with an American style service, great heating for the colder days and with a nice bar on the middle of the restaurant. It has more elaborated dishes, with good portions and very nice and friendly service, and depending of the season it is packed with groups to drink the several options of beers that they have - it is also a good place to be on couples if you like a busier place. They have also Happy Hour and an extensive chart of wines and distilled drinks. We did go there twice on the last trip: in the first one, we tried the Laguna Soup (roasted pumpkin and blue cheese) that was ok, along with two excellent regional indian pale ales (IPA) and a Ravioli del Campo (stuffed lamb pasta with tomato sauce, mushrooms, and cream - just awesome and rich). In a second visit we had another two Indian pale beers along with a Del Norte Soup (sweet corn with bacon soup, very tasty), a Sorrentino del Lago (stuffed trout past with butter herbs and green onions, just delicious), and the Wok a Lo Gaucho (vegetables wok with rice chicken and Mollet egg - the egg was a bit too much boiled and the rice a bit tasteless). For dessert two Torta de Frutos Rojos (red fruit cake with American cream and ice-cream, very good). We have been there four times on the previous trip (past Autumn season), and the menu had more options, with different dishes and it was cheaper (the prices were higher on the recent visit - maybe because of the devaluation of pesos, maybe because of seasonality). They also offered a starter that was a delicious bread with pumpkin paste that we didnât get on the recent visits. We got the chance to try lots of dishes, like the squid rings, the Pizza (excellent, packed with a delicious cheese), Sorrentino del Lago, Ravioles de Campo (both delicious), Cordero a la Massa (it was the dish that I missed the most), Lomo al Pecho, Bife Don Guerra (both were excellent), the Hamburger (a bit dry) and the Flan. Without almost no exception, all dishes were very good. I don't know if they have a seasonal menu or if they just alter the menu from time to time, but gladly, many of those options still are in the menu and are excellent choices. In resume, Don Guerra is a very good choice if you want an excellent beer or some more gourmet dishes that are usually very well done, very rich and tasty in good portions. You pay a bit more than other places in the city, but the place, ingredients used, presentation and preparation are worth the extra bucks, and it still have a very good cost benefit. Without a doubt we can recommend a visit if you are in El Chálten.

We loved the food in this little restaurant. We went two times and both times the food was very tasty, for a much cheaper price than in the other restaurants. They have a menu with quite some variety (soups, empenadas, burgers, stews, milanesas) and also some things a little bit more special (like pulled pork marinated in orange). You taste that everything is made with a lot of attention. The couple running the restaurant is very friendly. The lamb and mushroom stew and the pulled pork burger are very recommended..
