We are a small 48 seat BYOB restaurant. Chef/Owner Matthew Pierone has been named to Best chefs America (BCA) list since 2013. He specializes in fresh, creative Italian cuisine and is known for his Pork chops, fish and bread pudding. Outstanding customer service is a main focus at the Gourmet Cafe.
Went for dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised as to the appearance and quality of the service. The food was good and the atmosphere better than you expect for a strip mall. The appetizers we ordered were very good and the entrees were good. Price...MoreHarry, Thank you for trying us. I am glad you liked the service, atmosphere and food! We appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts. Chef Matthew

I love this place if not just for the charm and growing history of this place and the town! Great ice cream - sometimes a bit sweet for my palate, but hey, it is ice cream... and it is creamy and the texture very smooth. Definitely recommend to anyone!

I admit Florence Italy is my favorite place on Earth. Sadly I live in New Jersey and not Florence. I can however get a little taste of true Tuscan cuisine and authentic Italian cooking right around the corner from my very own office. Everything I have ever had out of this shop has been above-average if not better. Definitely worth the trip.

H2Ocean Restaurant & Raw Bar in Cedar Knolls, NJ "From Hook to Plate" Our practices support all local fisheries and vegetable farms. No farmed fish here... Our Team prepares to impress!
Went there for dinner with my husband and son. We had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, well prepared and very fresh. Our server was Gabby and she was efficient and attentive. I had occasion to speak with the manager Lindsey and she was so very helpful and understanding about a food matter. Can't wait to eat there again!!!

My family and I live within walking distance of this excellent dining option, but its worth going out of your way for a visit. Carlos and his superior staff always deliver an excellent dining experience. My favorite dish is the Italian hot pepper side they offer and have never been disappointed with the salmon or filet entrees. The building is the original Mountain Lakes train station. The stone construction, including the old ticket office, are very much in evidence and lend it some early 1900's ambiance. The upstairs is a lovely little bar which is reasonably if not spectacularly stocked. Overall highly recommended!

Up-end italian restaurant with great food but overpriced in comparison to existing similar alternatives. Service atentive.

Read quite a few excellent reviews of this place so we decided to try it. The owners are Colombian. I am from Dover and Dover has excellent Colombian food. They serve from a buffet. So choices are limited. I had white rice black means and pulled pork. Beans were good but they didn't give many. The pork was ok. My son had baked chicken and it was bland. We also had an empanada. It was also ok and not great. I would have rather eaten at ANY of the Colombian restaurants in Dover. Take the extra drive into Dover and have better Colombian food.

This place has an unassuming exterior and counter service, so I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The gyro platter was delicious, and serving was so large I ended up making two meals of it. The service is a bit taciturn, but the food more than makes up for it.

It's a popular steak house and has been here a long time. Off and on over the years I've gone there. If you like steak and are not fussy about it, it is pretty good. Big slabs of meat, often over salted (I don't know why it tastes so salty) done the way you want it. Boisterous atmosphere...nothing fancy. It's very popular and often there are lines to get in. Plenty of parking in the immediate area. In my opinion, its about meat, lots of it, and beer (mostly). It's better than the chain steak houses but it's not fine dining like Ruth Chris. Prices are fair for the quality.

We've been here multiple times and have always had great service and fantastic food. We like sitting at the booths in the bar area, but they have nice dining rooms, also. Our favorites for lunch are the sausage, peppers and onion sandwich on rustic bread, meatball sandwich, minnestrone soup, and the steak and brie sandwich. The portions are large, and we like taking home the leftovers! The owner is very social and we enjoy talking to him.
