Small rural hamlet diner
Needed mid-morning break from all our driving and exploring and saw this place at the other end of town. Found our way there and what've gem. Only hungry enough for some coffee and a pice of pie, but wished we had skipped breakfast at our motel and eaten here! Saw folks enjoying - and trying to finish - two fluffy 8" pancakes, 2 eggs and sausage/bacon ($6.95!). Blueberry pancakes looked devine. Service fast and friendly. If you are near Fifield, WI you gotta stop. Arrive hungry...

The Pal has been around all my life. The remodeled place is just great and the food, (except for their oatmeal,) is just great!!!

This is the Bears fan hangout up north, owners are transplants from Illinois. Packers fans are welcome too, but no vikings fans :)
They are great people who make amazing food.
the cheese curds are great, the burgers are great, the poppers are great, I haven't had anything i didn't really enjoy here. We go up every year, usually a few times but mostly during snowmobile trip. You can get here from the trails between park falls/butternut and the flambeau flowage.
I'm looking forward to going back on snowmobile trip 2016 in a month.
Check this place out, they are open year round.

We stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday evening and was pleased that we did. I had the lumber Jack cheeseburger and found it cooked to perfection. My mother had the hamburger steak and also was pleased with the portion size and flavor. Soup & salad bar included. I certainly recommend this establishment! Staff stated that they we soon going to fall/winter hours- closed Sundays, Mondays, and lunch whereas summer hours are lunch M-F, dinner M-F 4 p.m.

We've only made it out here twice while on snowmobile trips, it's a little ways from butternut, but it's been worth it each time. great pizza here and they serve spotted cow. the view from the lodge is pretty nice in winter, full view of the lake behind it. they also have a web came that updates every 5 minutes or so, you can use this to gauge how much snow is out there for snowmobiling. from the looks of it, you can rent units, but i'm not sure what quality they are. check it out for yourself. the place has access to the snowmobile trails so you can get wherever you need to go from here.

Gem of the Northwoods. Fresh local ingredients. A burger that overflows the bun and one will feed two. Handmade pizza to perfection. Chat with the owner Derrick and learn his interesting history.

The coffee was hardly warm. The oatmeal not completely cooked. I ordered the "small" portion of The Shanty Shingle and received the large. When I mentioned it, the young waitress said she was sorry, but never adjusted the bill. That meal wasn't even close to hot either. It looked so charming, but turned out to be so disappointing.
Just drive by.....

We have a cabin near-by and had read about the new owners in the newspaper. Our lunch of burgers and fries was delicious. The meat was fresh, never frozen and the handmade patties generous and tasty. Jenna , bartender, waitress and co-owner, was friendly and service was fast. We will definitely return and hope the business thrives.

While staying overnight in Park Falls we stopped here for breakfast. It's a typical family restaurant with travelers and locals dining here. It was fun "eavesdropping" on the conversations between the waitresses and local diners. They have an extensive breakfast menu. Everything we ordered was prepared to request. They offer many options to tailor-make your breakfast. It's nice to get the hash browns prepared crispy when you request them that way. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. There were three waitresses on duty and a coffee top-off was offered every time they passed by.
