Pardubice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈpardubɪtsɛ] ( listen); German: Pardubitz) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is the capital city of the Pardubice Region and lies on the river Elbe, 96 kilometres east of Prague. There is an old Tower and a Castle. Factories include the Synthesia chemical factory (manufacturer of Semtex, a plastic explosive), an oil refinery Paramo, a heavy machinery factory and an electronic equipment plant. The city is well known for its sport events (Great Pardubice Steeplechase, Golden Helmet of Pardubice, Czech Open), ginger bread, rail and air transport.

A very nice cafe', at the -pedestrianized, by now- Miru Trida', the central avenue of Pardubice. The interior of it, full of old photos, gravures and memorabilia, looks like an old Vienna cafe'! Coffee, chocolate and desserts are of high quality, the service people are friendly and the prices reasonable. It also offers a nice little garden on the back.I would definitely recommend it!

Directly across the road from Penzion City Hotel (www.penzioncity.cz)
This is my 24 year old son's favourite bar, so I knew it would be a little different from my usual dining experiences!
Despite being a sports bar, there was a good mix of people there that evening. Girl friends out for tea and coffee, family groups, couples and the occasional lone male.
People were checking in to the pension up stairs.
The 'Frog' is nicely decorated on a locker room theme. TVs are well placed for watching the local ice hockey team. The food is Czech and chosen to go down well with people drinking beer. The menu is extensive and as you would expect is meat focused. I had an enormous plate of spaghetti carbonara (fresh pasta) and a glass of Czech wine. The food was cooked to order and the bar was busy so we had to wait quite a while but the waiting staff were working hard and apologised for the wait.
Like most bars in cz it was smokey but had good ventilation. A dedicated no smoking area would be better.

Recently entertained a client here after arriving at our hotel late on a Monday and this being the closest establishment to our accommodation.
Quirky interior, but our waitress was quite rude and the food was average at best. The lamb shank was the greasiest piece of lamb that I have ever eaten and it was overcooked. The accompanying potatoes and greens were cooked in far too much Dijon mustard for my liking. I decided not to complain as I didn't want to make a fuss on the first night out with a customer, so just made the most of it.
The prices here are very expensive, especially when compared to the other nearby restaurant choices and the quality is way below the local standard of the other three restaurants dined in during the week.
I won't be returning.

The restaurant has two parts, café and restaurant, less and more formal. I cannot agree with some previous reviews saying that they do not use fresh ingredients and everything is frozen, which is simply not true. They serve sushi only time to time and it is ALWAYS fresh, they have fish or steak days and all ingredients are fresh. Almost always they have daily offer incl. fish which is also fresh. Of course you cannot compare it with top restaurants in Prague simply because they do not have the same guests which are ready to pay over 20€ per main course and are full every evening. Sorry we are in Pardubice and not in Prague and here doing the same way like in Prague the restaurant would be empty because it would be too expensive for Pardubice. Service is very good, nice selection of wines and chef is trying to do maximum at the conditions he works. Prices are not high, it is just not cheap, main course around 10-15€.

Hogo Fogo (before Villa Rosa) used to be a non-smoking restaurant. Now it's allowed to smoke there but it has got rather good air-conditioner so you don't smell much even if people smoke there.
Foods on menu look great and kind of luxury, but taste is just average. Daily menu often too oily. But quite pleasant place for a meeting with friends or colleagues.

This is a well known restaurant chain and the quality is pretty reliable no matter what town you're in so we went while visiting Pardubice to avoid surprises. Good value for money, Czech and international dishes, lots of beer options, fast service. If you go for lunch, there is a daily (cheaper) lunch specials menu as well.

Slow service, nice garden but small and no air conditioning indoor. Clean but very average design of the restaurant. Meals average.
