Stayed here for almost a week while visiting friends in Port Moresby in Dec 2019. While the apartments were probably pretty swish when first built, they are now well worn, smoked in and a tad grubby - traffic areas get cleaned but furniture, cupboards, curtains etc are grimy and dusty, and for "serviced apartments" they are not really serviced - you'll be lucky to get your rubbish collected each day even. I always had to ask for extra soap, toilet paper and coffee or to have the bathroom cleaned. On the upside there was a washing machine and dryer in the bathroom which is essential for long stay guests in Port Moresby because there are no public laundromats. [Other hotels I have stayed at with washing machines in the larger rooms include the Dream Inn (great place to stay) and the Ela Beach Hotel (they also have a free guest laundromat). The main problem is the location - I previously lived a few streets away in this suburb for a number of years and it is not suitable for overseas visitors. A lot of people walking past on the street outside day and night, a lot of noise at night from dogs barking and fighting somewhere very close, a lot of incidents requiring police attendance and a big gate at the entrance which is kept closed by security guards that reminds us that this is not the shiny end of town. There is no restaurant so you have to order take-out from their other hotel 10 minutes drive away and they deliver but too bad if you forgot to order dessert and still feel hungry after. There is no supermarket or convenience store anywhere nearby - the closest is at Manu Service Station which has a small chinese supermarket and a Big Rooster chicken outlet but Manu is not a safe place for visitors fresh off the plane to go wandering around. The apartments reception did promise me that one of the staff would run to the store for me if I needed anything but when I actually gave the reception a shopping list and some money they could not find anybody free to go. The wifi works but you have to stand outside your room or in the carpark to get a good connection (no use for business travellers with laptops) and the phones in the rooms cannot be used to make phone calls - only to dial reception - and there is no public phone. And why oh why are the owners keeping tree kangaroos in little cages under the stairs? As an attraction? It's a real turn-off to overseas visitors who don't like seeing large animals cooped up in tiny cages. And the smell is awful. I really think this place is best suited to local travellers who know how to handle themselves in this part of town.

For a port town. Very good service. Great meals. Scrutious club sandwiches n fresh potatoe chips. Great coffee too. Service is great. Friendly staff n great welcoming smiles.in a small and busy port town like kiunga, it is quite rare to find a decent and classy accomodation in the tourism business. So this is really a good thing.

The Whittaker Apartments are ideally located on Ela Beach, overlooking the Coral Sea to the South, and Port Moresby’s CBD to the North. The beachside apartments are within 200 metres of Port Moresby’s business precinct, where one can access all major banks, the Port Moresby GPO, travel agents and major supermarkets.
A true apartment with all the amenities you need from cooking, laundry, office, etc. and it is right smack in the middle of the PNG capital of Port Moresby. Stayed there for two weeks (6 - 20 November 2018) during the APEC Summit. It is well fenced, safe and a stone's throw from the city police station. Restaurants and shops within walking distance. The sea view apartments are the best, but it does get very windy from the sea breeze.

It’s more like a motel close to the airport. They have free pickup and drop off to the airport (5 minutes by car) and to the biggest shopping mall in POM nearby. My room was 330 Kina and it was very clean and well organized. Everything was overpriced in PNG, but $105 USD per night equivalent was not so bad after all. There could be cheaper options, but don’t expect the same kind of quality. Breakfast was NOT included and you have to pay additional. I think it might have been 20 or 30 Kina. They had lunch and dinner available for 50 Kina each, but since the mall is close by, it may be better to eat at the mall restaurants. I did not try the food at the hotel. The staff members were very friendly and were always willing to help. The front desk guy Dixie was always fast in answering emails. Oh, the wifi was super fast and worked well. I was sooo surprised. The driver, Dominic was curteous and was prompt with the pickups. They have cable television and you can watch Aussie tv. The area itself was close to the airport and the shopping mall. I was advised not to walk around alone during the day and don’t even think about it at night. I believe it will take about 10 to 15 minutes into the city center. I was told a taxi will cost 50 Kina ($16 USD). If you pay over $160 to $200 USD, you have the choice to stay at the international hotels, which will give you more amenities. If staying on a budget, this place is good (although expensive) or check AirBnB. Note: everything is overpriced in Papua.

My partner and I stayed for a week at the Citi Apartments after being transferred from the Citi Motel when there were issues with WIFI connection. The room was a standard hotel room, clean, well appointed and everything operational. The mattress and bedding were excellent quality and very comfortable. We were opposite the Boroko Markets and right next door to the Oil Search National Football Stadium. The private bar sits on the 3rd floor with bi-fold windows which peel back to show a very good view of the stadium grounds. Drinks were reasonably priced with signature cocktails a must to try. The Dining Area is also on 3rd floor with delightful tropical but classy decor. The meals were simple and tasty. Prices also reasonable. However, the most stand out feature to this property were the staff. From the Front Office to Housekeeping everyone was keen to make the experience the best possible. thank you to Kila from Housekeeping who was very helpful and always smiling. Thank you to Agnes from the Front Desk who also went over and above in delivering impeccable service. The property is a credit to management and we would gladly stay with Citi again when returning to POM
