This small, hilly island between Sicily and Tunisia is growing in popularity as a tourist destination (so if you’re like us, you’ll want to get there soon). Rent a moped to explore. One must-see: the island’s thermal pools. Beaches are rocky, but offer great snorkeling just offshore.

Premise: I stayed at Dream just before the season started (end of May) - so I guess they were still getting everything ready and could cut them some slack for this reason. Still, if the place is open I expect same level of service no matter what time of they year. The location itself is very special. You’ll stay in a Dammuso - typical housing on the Island - with a breathtaking sea view. Rooms are very basic but minimal and cute, and always very clean. However, bathrooms are a bit small and with poor lighting. The real issue for us was service and cleanliness of common areas. When we were there they were having clear staffing issues (I guess pretty common post Covid but still, guests should never be aware of these things), and that so clearly reflected on the level of service provided. I believe it also had to do with inexperienced management. For instance, the pool area was always quite dirty and looked sloppy. Nobody would clean up towels or drinks/food left behind. The pool bathroom was filthy - to the point that I would not use it and walk (quite a long way) to my room instead. I was working remotely and would use common outdoor tables everyday - I had to clean them up myself cause nobody ever did (Pantelleria is a very windy island so outdoor facilities get dirty pretty easily). When we brought this up with staff we were told the lifeguard who was supposed to pick up all these tasks had not arrived yet (??). But nobody would do it in the meantime and they’d instead leave the place dirty. Additionally, breakfast was extremely disappointing. Their breakfast menu on the website does not reflect reality. In addition to the fact that breakfast was presented in a very sloppy way - indoor buffet with very cheap silverware and napkins + food badly placed + often times old fruits - food itself was quite bland. Croissants were not fresh, and they rarely had anything else if not for some bread and coffee cake - while the menu on the website boasts typical desserts, Sicilian brioches etc. You could ask for eggs but that’s it - and coffee quality was poor. All in all, on an island where it is tough to reach spots in general and nothing much is offered, you’d ideally want to be in a hotel that offers all comforts, and this was not it. It was also quite tough to get drinks at the pool bar cause, other than a bartender issue they were having, their pricing for drinks was completely off. They charged us 18€ for one G&T with Hendrick’s gin (which they consider “premium”). While 2 G&Ts with Hendrick’s Gin at the lounge bar down the road (Le Cale) costed us 18€ in total. On a more positive note, the hotel restaurant was very good. Great gourmet food and good selection overall. This is also why we were expecting the same quality for breakfast. But nope, it’s almost like the 2 meals were handled by different restaurants altogether. Overall, I paid a very reasonable price for a week off-season (ish) so these shortcomings notwithstanding it was OK. However, I would not go back - especially for the price charged during peak season - as there are many less known spots on the island with much more attention to details and better guest experience.

The family that owns the resort makes you feel like you are one of them. The pool is amazing and very difficult to leave with such a nice shaded veranda adjacent to it. Be sure to take one of Totino's excursions

,the blue moon hotel, is really convenient. beautiful rooms on all shades of blue, with large windows to enjoy the view of the Mediterranean Sea and the beautiful sunsets from African colors. 12 rooms, breakfast room, covered terrace on the ground floor where you can read the newspaper or smoke a cigarette or enjoy a good glass of wine.
A quick sidestep was it from Palermo to Pantelleria. A really nice welcome at the airport. The lady from the hotel picked me up. Just a couple of minutes and I´am at the hotel and in the room. Not a minute to wait both times. The room large, ok no special style but clean and with a sunny seaview. Also the bathroom large and everthing cleaned well. This island is in between nothing, Sicily on the one side, Africa on the other. An complete electrical breakdown happened in the morning and lasted till my way back for the airport also by the hotel van. A nice place to stay itis on this island.

Overlooking Pantelleria's sea, in the stretch of coast running from Scauri to the Elephant's Arch cliff, 12 hectares lovingly cultivated, are the heart of Tenuta Borgia, the most charming estate of Pantelleria island. Seven Dammusi wisely restored that have kept intact the original structure, furnished with taste and equipped with all amenities, offer its guests the experience of living in a precious place where nature and culture reaches its perfect blend and expression. Ultimate Mediterranean charme. The decor is extremely refined and original: each piece was chosen by the owner Rosa Borgia Baroness Collice who has juxtaposed designer furniture, antiques and art objects. Ancient hand-decorated majolica tiles increase the charm to the floors, to the ducchene - the typical Pantelleria's bench - and to the large swimming pool and Jacuzzi pool. Sophisticated details such as hemp linen, bathrobes and rimmed towels, personalized porcelain tableware and high quality appliances complete the Dammusi comfort. Indoor spaces interact with outdoor to patios, pools, terraces and gardens. The Arabian garden, the largest in Pantelleria, secretly protects precious plants while plam and pine trees provide shade for strolls in the estate while scented and colorful shrubs and olive trees add the magic to this incomparable spot.
We stayed in a quite dammuso, surrounded by palm trees. It was furnished in a simple but cosy way. The staff was nice and helpful. We loved the privacy and the view from the terrace. Cons: - the private street to get to the dammuso is really poorly maintained and very bumpy... be careful - the dammuso has no air conditioning and ... this could be an issue over night since it gets very hot during the day - the maintenance of the interiors and the kitchenware and cutlery is poor and some of them were not well cleaned when we arrived

Le Case del Principe Pantelleria are located on the beautiful and enchanting island of Pantelleria, in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, between Sicily and North Africa. The Villas were built in the 70's by Prince Paolo Sallier de La Tour and his wife Costanza, who created this little oasis of peace and relaxation in a place that was dear to them. The property consists of seven "dammusi", which are homes typical of Pantelleria made of stone, each distant enough the others to ensure silence and privacy. All are perched on the breathtaking cliffs over the deep blue sea, which is easy to reach in 5 minutes walking through a private staircase. "Le case del principe" have panoramic terraces overlooking the sea and the lighthouse of Punta Spadillo. They are located near the Lake of Venus and just a few kilometres from the town of Pantelleria. Le Case del Principe Pantelleria offer different housing solutions: Big Dammusi: suitable for groups or large families. There are 3 bedrooms which sleep seven comfortably, living room, 2 bathrooms with shower, a fully equipped kitchen and a large terrace. Little Dammusi: suitable for a maximum of 4 people. There are 2 double rooms with private bathroom, living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a large terrace. The Ancient Dammuso: ideal for couples looking to relax. It is an isolated home built in lava stone. This one-room apartment has a living room, a kitchenette, a double bed, a little bathroom and a romantic small terrace with table overlooking the lighthouse of Punta Spadillo and the bay.
A beautiful place! Stayed for four nights and enjoyed every moment. The owner, Ariane, was warm and welcoming, and the property is very picturesque. Stunning views, lovely rooms, and walking distance from the Lago di Venere. Can’t wait to go back!
