Etwas geizig

Never I have eaten such good fish as at the Palingboot Het Bottertje in Kampen. It's not a wonder because the fresh fish comes from a small fishingtown called Urk. Normally a big portion is not a recommendation for quality, but here I can make an exception. Your fish comes with french fries (rastapatat) and a little bit of lettuce. I have eaten there now a couple of times and I can say that the (high) quality is standard. Combined with a very nice staff, this is a timeless experience!

Our hotel recommended Holland for pannekoeken. They had a huge selection of both sweet and savory pannekoekens which is important to me. I donât care for sweet pannekoekens unless itâs dessert. My wife had a sweet brie and almond pannekoeken while I had a savory pizza-like pannekoeken with salami, peppers, leeks, and a pepper sauce. And what a surprise: they served the best (so far) Dutch beer Iâve had, âPuurâ which was very hoppy. The servers were very nice and helpful; when I asked âwhat is âpreis?ââ, she could not translate to English so she brought out a sample of leeks to show me! Thatâs the way to provide customer service! This is a nice place on the walk platz very near the old Gothic house the bell tower.

We chose this place partly from a recommendation in a sailing guide to the Netherlands, partly by the interesting architecture and more importantly because it was nearly full. The Lamarck comprised three enormous lamb chops beautifully cooked and presented, served with a potato dish baked in the oven and mushrooms and courgette and corn on the cob - all very good. Mrs T had the vegetarian option which also was excellent with a range of superbly cooked and presented vegetables. The service was as we have come to expect in Holland; very good. Why do we not get such food and service in the UK??

We travelled throughout the Netherlands for 10 days and this was one of our most memorable meals. The place is understandably packed and we agreed to wait for a table. I'm not kidding - the menu is 17 pages long - loaded with everything from starters to pizzas to pasta dishes. We settled on spaghetti carbonara and lasagna and were not disspointed. All I can say is = fabulous.

Casa Egitto is very nice decorated. The service is great. With every course they gave us a detailed desciption of the food. You can choose between Italian or Argentina cuisine or a mix. The quality of the food is very good. I liked the starters a lot. Nice twist of vegetables as sidedishes. It was a bit expensive though, but still recommended.

I've just had a wonderful beefsteak, very nice salad and chips at the Bonte Os, a good ambience in a very old Kampen Hostelry. My only complaint is that they did not have steak knives, and cutting through a 3inch beefsteak, was quite hard work!!. Also the round table in front of the old fireplace got a bit noisy at times because it is right next to the coffee machine, fab espresso by the way....

Already in March we discovered this restaurant and were very glad with it. So we decided to celebrate one of our significant dates there, too. Again we had martinis for aperitif and Menu Gourmand Gastronomique which included three courses and wine-coffee arrangement. To our surprise, in the end we had a different (bigger) amount to pay for the dinner (and the coffee was mentioned apart)! We don't normally discuss the bills so we paid what was written on it. I've attached the photos of the two bills, I guess it is not difficult to see and count for yourselves! So, my advice is: it is a nice place with rather tasty food, but watch out for the bill and count well!

We ate here because there were few alternatives available but were very pleased we had. The ambience was pleasant, some tables having good views over the riverFood was lovely, with generous portions although quite pricey. Clearly popular with locals, which is always a good signService was pleasant. Recommend

Soul Sisters is one of a kind in Hattem and their shop is worth a visit. It includes a variety of somewhat 'alternative' jewelry, artwork, home accessories, etc, made by a variety of artists. Ideal for gift shopping. The cafe downstairs is also worth checking out. All-in-all this is a breath of fresh air in between all the more 'traditional' Hattem shops and cafes.Thank you so much Peter! It was a real pleasure to meet you three. We hope to see you again at Soul Sisters. With kind regards,Alice en Marilyn
