The Outer Banks of North Carolina is a 100-mile stretch of barrier islands dotted with pristine beaches, quaint towns and historic sites.
If you love swimming, kayaking, or surfing, be sure to visit the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. To really experience local culture, explore each coastal village and sample as much food as you can along the way. (Pro tip: Try the catch of the day.) If you’re looking for a history lesson, check out Roanoke Island or the Wright Brothers National Memorial. And of course, no day is complete without watching the sunset from Jockey’s Ridge.

This Hampton Inn with suites is the best option for extended stays. Quite spacious. Loved having both a couch and a comfortable side chair. The breakfast included fresh fruit— bananas, pears, apples and oranges, more fruit options than I’ve seen elsewhere. And this Hampton had dark roast coffee. Others I have stayed in recently had only light roast. I was there during the nor’easter so didn’t use the beach or outdoor areas and pools but it looked like a great spot to hang out. The hotel wasn’t crowded and was quiet. Daily housekeeping seems to be a past dream but that’s ok as towels and toiletries are left outside door daily. One can place trash outside door too. There were extra trash bags provided in the room.

The Resort's renowned restaurants offer the finest dining on the Outer Banks, with perfectly prepared and presented fresh coastal cuisine and a choice of venues to match the time of day, the season and your mood.
This is not a luxury hotel but does charge luxury prices. Our $500 per night room was tired and in need of an upgrade. It had cracked floor tiles in the bathroom, staines on carpet and soft furnishings etc etc. There was no drinkable water in the room and when asked the staff said ' come down and get one complimentary bottle of water'.....no room service due to the pandemic still (?) The beach bar was closed even in peak season when we asked were told we could go across the parking lot for a drink.... My main issue was the single use plastic its everywhere!! Please stop wrapping paper cups in plastic then wrapping that in more plastic its unbelievable and mind blowing in 2022... we won't return, sorry not sorry.

My wife and I were just passing through the area and needed a place to stay. We had read a review on this inn and, although the review was not very flattering, when we got to the hotel it looked fine to us. And it was. I have no complaints. The room is clean, comfortable, and right on the water. I would certainly go back again.

We had a wonderful stay at The Inn on Pamlico Sound. It's a beautiful location with a relaxed vibe. We had to check in very late & the folks at the Inn couldn't have been more accommodating. Our room (Camelia) was spacious & comfortable. We loved the fact that we didn't have to bring our own beach chairs or towels as the Inn provided them. Breakfast is included in the room rate & it was excellent. Room service is available for breakfast however, the service & view from the on-site restaurant (Cafe Pamlico) was fantastic so we ate in the restaurant most mornings. We also had dinner at the restaurant two nights & the food was delicious. The sunset views were perfect for our anniversary dinner. The staff in both the hotel & restaurant were excellent. We look forward to our next trip to The Inn on Pamlico Sound!

Short family vacation. It was our first time to the Outer Banks and we were very happy with our hotel choice. The Hilton Garden Inn was centrally located on the Island right on the beach. From our balcony we had a beautiful view of the beach, ocean and pool with gorgeous sunrises every morning. Jeremy, the General Manager and his team offered excellent and friendly customer service throughout our stay. Special shout-out to Max in parking lot security, Melvin who assisted us with beach chairs and Vanessa in the restaurant. They were all so friendly. When traveling to the Outer Banks, I strongly suggest the Hilton Garden Inn Kitty Hawk.

We arrived at the Best Western looking forward to our stay. We entered the front desk area and the lady was very nice. We picked up our room key (card) and went to our room. A little trouble getting in. You have to play with the card multiple times to get it to work. Once the green light comes on you have to lift up on the door handle. Once the door handle is up you have to push the door open to get in because the latch doesn’t clear completely. Once inside you wonder what happened in the room and why it looks like that. The carpet had spray paint on it along with some of the cabinets. The air conditioner in the bedroom was so loud you had to turn up the TV to hear it. The power for the A/C came from what used to be the bedroom closet because you can see the hinge where the door used to pivot. The power came from a flexible conduit to a plastic junction box. The conduit was attached with just one clamp. It would be very easy to pull it out of the box by getting some clothes hung up on it while removing them from the “closet”. The bedroom had a glass wall with a glass door on it. You could barely see out the glass it was so dirty. The door wouldn’t open. Move to the bathroom. You have an outlet in the bathroom but it wouldn’t work. So you dried your hair in the other sink area. Moving to the living room. Nice TV. But none of the seating was aligned so you could see the TV. Again the wall was glass with a door in it. Again the door didn’t work. You strain to see through the dirty glass so you could see the knoll but it was covered with trash. I don’t know what the code is in Kill Devil Hill but this room has a safety problem as there was no secondary egress from there.

My wife and I loved staying at the Comfort Inn on the Ocean in KDH, Outer Banks NC! The front desk/guest service staff were AMAZING and made the trip really special. The room was clean, the pool was awesome, and the close beach access was great. The staff there are so considerate, thoughtful, and attentive! We had an accessible room, so the queen size bed was way bigger than we anticipated! It was more like a king size and very comfy. The continental breakfast was also delightful and the hours were great. I love visiting OBX every year, but this was my first hotel experience rather than renting a house because it was just me and my wife. We were very pleased and will most definitely be back! -Lindsey M.

What a view of the Atlantic, especially from the 3rd floor of our cottage balcony. After a severe storm the week prior, the weather cooperated for the full week we were there. Sand was everywhere but the inside was as clean as could be. Wonderfully kept up with good central a/c, nice kitchen, and HD TV with many channels. A few minor negatives were a bathroom door with a hole in it (on their repair list) and door knobs that were hard to work, and due for replacement on both doors that lead out to the balconies. The bottom one broke completely at the end of our stay and was reported to the front staff. Some of the double paned glass windows have the seal broken which blurs the views. We realize this would be an expensive repair. Getting new towels, etc.. was quite easy. The pool area was top notch, just ultra cold water when we visited in late May. The hose in the garage area was extremely helpful to get the salt off our car each day. Almost everything has been thought of and thus our 5 star rating. There are restaurants in the area and even one really good one (Diamond Shoals) within walking distance. The Cape Hatteras lighthouse is just down the street and the Orange Blossom bakery a very short ride away. The ferry to Ocracoke is also an easy drive. A wonderful week to celebrate our 45th anniversary. We'll hopefully be back one day.
