We stayed in hotel for one night as our flight has been canceled, and had a very nice afternoon with our kids in swimming pool al afternoon. As our new flight was day after in late afternoon they left us to chek out late without any extra charge.

Bed and breakfast in Ostia Antica close to the archeological site and the castle. Family conduction, absolutely clean and comfortable.
The reviews were so good that we were a bit disappointed. Location was quite out of the way for us without a car. Owners were very friendly, but it was hard to communicate with them as they hardly spoke English (and we had a lot of questions that could not be asked because of it). Absolute positive was the elaborate breakfast! Our main disappointment, however, was the fact that we had to pick up our luggage a lot earlier than we would have wanted (the site indicated that it was possible to leave luggage), which made our trip to Ostia Antica shorter than we would have wanted. Busses to the airport depart far from this B&B and it took us quite some time to find the correct bus stop and schedule. Owners didn’t seem to know about the busses.

My husband and I were staying for the week in Italy with my cousin and her husband who own a house there. We decided to stay in Ostia rather than Fiumicino the night before our flight like they usually do. The price was very reasonable. The accommodations were fine. Bathroom was a little small and pillows were flat which is quite common in Italy. But the room was comfortable with a cute balcony adjoining my cousin's room. Check in was simple enough. The gentleman at the restaurant checked us in but provided very few instructions on how to get in and out of the property or breakfast and checkout in the morning. There is a cafe downstairs with very little indoor seating (3 two seater tables crunched under the buffet bar). Although chilly on November, we decided to sit outside so we could all four sit together for dinner. We were able to coax them to turn out the patio heater for us. The food was delicious, but our female server was reluctant to be friendly or helpful and did the bare minimum. My cousin's husband speaks Italian fluently enough that there wasn't a language barrier. She could also speak some English. She was either having a really bad day or didn't care for tourists. The next morning we went down for breakfast at 6:30 because we needed to leave for our flight at 7. The same gal was working and was even less friendly than the night before like we were inconveniencing her even though the paperwork in the room showed breakfast starting at 6:30. She served our croissants and put the order in for our eggs. We asked her how long it was to the airport so she knew we were catching our flight. She was in no hurry to help us. We asked how to check out and she mumbled something unintelligible and walked away. She brought the paperwork to check us out about 10 minutes later. We finally had to get up to leave and the eggs came out on plates (30 minutes after they were ordered). We told her we had to leave for our flight. She didn't say a word to us and scraped the eggs into to-go containers and handed them to us. I wouldn't recommend this B&B simply for the two experiences we had with this one young lady. I certainly hope she isn't related to the owners because she isn't doing them any favors and is really spoiling what would otherwise be a pleasant experience for travelers. She should not be in the service industry. My husband and I are new to international travel in the last 5 years but we are far from being considered snooty American travelers. We try to fit into and really enjoy the local culture of the places we visit. We prefer the towns and activities off the beaten path. This was the first time I felt like we were pre-judged for being American. I wish her the best, but hope she finds a more suitable job that makes her happy.

The country house “Rodrigo de Vivar Resorts and Country” is in Central Italy, in Latium, at only 24 kilometres from Rome and five kilometres from the Fiumicino Airport. It is situated in the Roman Country, in the wide property of the Princes Aldobrandini, descendents of Pope Clemente II. It is close to the excavations of Ostia Antica and inside the Medieval “Borgo”, behind the old castle of Giulio II della Rovere. Some famous personages, such as the king Charles III of Borbone, Baldassarre Peruzzi, Pablo Picasso, Chagall and others stayed in some of our rooms in the Medieval “Borgo”.The country house consists of 10 rooms and 3 suites that are very comfortable and characterized by an unmistakable style: antique and refined furniture, fine chandeliers from Murano, original Persian carpets. It also has a very well stocked newspaper and periodical library, a videostore and a library. In each room you can find television, video-recorder, hairdryer, minibar and in "De luxe rooms" everything you need for you breakfast.
This is owned by some of the warmest and caring folks. Family that welcomes you with open arms. I loved my memories made here. My older sister and I stayed here we adored all the down home touches. I don't drink wine or really at all but, they made sure we left knowing we were special to them. If I ever can afford it I would go back in a heartbeat! It's a magical vibe. Thank you for your kindness! The picture doesn't do it justice. Must see.

Things didn't start out so well as we somehow missed Geno, the owner, at the airport and had to get a shuttle. The shuttle driver would not take us to the door and we had to walk part of the way not knowing where we were going. Once we got there Geno took very good care of us. He was kind, thoughtful and drove us to town several times. This is a small place but very secure. The room and grounds were spotless. The bed was very basic and not very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and as much coffee as you want to drink. Geno speaks very little English and his wife a bit more. However we were able to communicate with pretty well anyway. Would love to go back. This is a great place to start out your Roman Adventure and recover from jet lag.

The Roman Country Residence is a magnificent new building, situated in Ostia Antica,on the outskirts of Rome, this area is world famous for its archaeological excavations and is five minutes from "Leonardo da Vinci" (Fiumicino) International Airport, a few miles from the sea (Lido di Ostia) and from the large pine forest of Castel Fusano National Park, only half an hour from Zoomarine Attraction Park and 15 minutes from the New Exhibition of Rome (Fiera di Roma); Ostia Antica is also very well linked to the historical centre of Rome. Our guests can relax away from the frenetic chaos of the city but at the same time they have the possibility to reach all that the city offers in terms of art and history, in less than half an hour.
This hotel was not quite as close to the airport as I had hoped, and was in a largely residential section of Ostia Antica. As is often the case, thankfully, in Italy, these minor disappointments were soon removed. The staff were charming, especially the manager, who greeted us from what appeared to be an internet-café/bookmakers/bar. Our room was functional in its decor, but was a suite with a kitchen, sitting area and ample bedroom. The bed was large and comfortable. The mosquito nets were good (and, as it happens, not unnecessary in the area). Everything was clean. And the pizza from the buzzing hotel restaurant, which had looked like a university canteen when passing earlier, was surprisingly good. All in all, charming.
