Secluded in the tropical rain forest bordering Corcovado National Park, Luna Lodge is a unique resort described by many as "...a piece of true paradise". Its appeal is, not only, its natural beauty and environment, where the heliconia hang three feet long, and the howler monkeys wake you in the morning, but also, its ambiance. The owners' passion for the preservation of the forest is ever present, and the attentive courtesy, friendly staff always serve "con mucho gusto... with pleasure".
I brought a yoga retreat group of 18 women to Luna Lodge for a week of yoga and adventure and it was the best experience I've ever had as a yoga retreat leader. The staff were incredible helpful and accommodating. My participants raved about the body work from Ahmed and Rosie in the spa, reiki and tarot with Lana, the delicious food, clean rooms, expert tour guides, and of course the spectacular views. The yoga platform has space to practice outdoors or under the shelter, depending on the weather. There are bolsters, mats, straps, and a few blankets and blocks.

I stayed here two times in the course of three months. First time for a night, and then came back for a week. The location is beautiful, just by the water. You can literally walk down from any room into the sea in 2 minutes, when the tide is high. You can also sit in a chair and watch the sunrise in the morning. It's silent and clean. All the staff is very warm and welcoming, and so are the owners. Ask for a massage, by the swiming pool, with a view over the bay, it's worth every moment of it. They have this place for quite a while, and run it like a happy family. I love this place. And will surely come back and stay here, if I am ever in Costa RIca again. I love Puerto Jimenez.

Rainforest and Marine Adventure Lodge: Nestled amidst the jungle-covered hillsides overlooking the tranquil waters of Drake Bay, Aguila de Osa is an exquisite rainforest and marine adventure hotel. It’s here where you will experience life right on the edge of the Osa. Aguila de Osa is the destination for adventurers from around the world, offering the most convenient access to Corcovado National Park, Caño Island Biological Marine Reserve, and a full array of adventures including world-class sport fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling, plus bird watching, hiking, beach trips, river kayaking, mangrove estuary tours, and more.
Aquila De Osa is a resort on the Osa Peninsula, and the experience was the highlight of our two week tour through Costa Rica. We got to the lodge after dark because of a flight delay as the result of a plane crash at the San Jose Airport. Just getting to the lodge was an adventure. We were picked up at the Drake Bay airport and driven about 25 minutes to a small boat launch. After ditching our shoes and walking through the water to the boat, we had about a 5 minute ride to the lodge's dock where we were met by the hostess. She gave us a welcome drink and explained the activities and how meals would be handled. A very good orientation. We had a 4 day and 3 night package that included all meals. Our room, 8, was about a 5 minute walk from the lodge reception/dining room/sitting area. It was somewhat of a steep incline, but we got used to it. Our room was their standard with 2 queen beds. There was no TV or A/C, but it wasn't needed since there was a ceiling fan. It was very clean, and did have a mini fridge, and a front porch with table and chairs. The view from the porch was great. The upper part of the walls in the room were just screens, but there were pull down shades for privacy. The room could have used better lightning, but we were not there very much. The grounds at the lodge were spectacular and full of wildlife. We saw monkeys everyday and many lizards, spiders, and birds. Some guests said they saw crocodiles in the bay that housed the boats, but we never saw them. Incidentally, the howler monkeys woke us up every day between 4:00AM and 5:00AM. Our package included both a snorkeling trip and a guided tour through Corcorvado National Park. The snorkeling trip was fun, but the water was not very clear on our day. Still we saw a lot of interesting fish as well as some sea turtles. We also saw a lot of wildlife on the guided hike. Meals served at the lodge restaurant were very good. At each meal we were given a selection of what we wanted for the next meal. The service was great and very friendly. The lodge offers free use of their kayaks and there is a river off the bay that extends into the rainforest for about 1 KM that is great for a mellow trip. For the more adventurous, going out into the bay with some bigger waves is an option. I would highly recommend a visit to Aquila de Osa. If you are into wildlife and nature, this is the place to stay.

The house is a wooded building, with an ocean view balcony, located away from the main town, but just 200 meters from the beach; it also has a tropical garden with a lot of forest in the backyard, a lot of wildlife is spotted from the balcony. Yamileth and Pedro Caravaca offer rooms with a ceiling fun, and hot water shower, free breakfast, laundry service, tours with the best guide in the area. The hotel is located in very private place with the best views and the best service.
Pedro found us on the beach and drove us the short but steep trip up where we were staying near the main house: the "Casa Bosque" or "Forest House". It doesn't look like much upon arrival besides being adjacent to some trees near the driveway and having an elevated, inclined ramp walkway leading to the door. Inside is an airy cabin with a double bed, two twin beds, an adjoining bathroom and kitchenette. There's two big windows and two ceiling fans, the latter we used on high basically the whole time while inside during the day because it was so hot. The view from the balcony is gorgeous, looking kind of north out over Drake Bay. It's relatively secluded, with lots of vegetation and trees, which on the second day meant we had a bunch of monkeys jumping from our roof to branches right next to us. It was stunning to see them so close, and I've shared a picture of them and a big iguana that was constantly hanging out in one of the trees. The sounds of the birds and forest are almost constant which I loved. We were warmly greeted by Yami, the hostess, and she suggested we connect via whatsapp so she could help arrange tours or answer questions which was nice. She got us a couple spots on a snorkel tour the next day even though it had seemed they were all booked up, which was super helpful. We arranged breakfast timing and whether we wanted gallo pinto or pancakes that way, too. Yami, Pedro, and the rest of the staff are kind and accommodating. I need to lose some weight so the short walk up the steep hill a couple times a day got me closer to that, but since it's so steep and someone in a wheelchair wouldn't be able to access the Casa Bosque I wanted to make a note of it. Overall you do feel like you are suddenly away from the beach and high in a forest, and for the nature immersion alone I'd give it 5 stars. The hospitality was excellent and room had what we needed to ensure we could make the most of it. Thank you Yami and Pedro!

Come see Costa Rica as you always imagined; wild, beautiful and unexplored. Be one of the lucky few to scuba dive in the pelagic rich waters of Cano Island or explore one of the last remaining virgin lowland tropical rainforests of Corcovado National Park. Splendidly isolated in the tiny community of Drake Bay, Costa Rica, Jinetes De Osa Hotel is a friendly beachside retreat one hours boat ride down the jungle lined banks of the Sierpe River.
From day one my wife and I had top notch service provided to as. One of the greatest things was being able to have one contact who took care of all out needs. He was 24/7 available for questions, recommendations, tour guide, and just to talk about the culture and many more. For divers it was great having a dive shop attached to the hotel. Also having a restaurant attached to the hotel that served all three meals was a bonus. Great WIFI as well :) I highly recommend Hotel Jinetes. Thank you for giving my wife and I a good life time

Since it was founded in 1985, Drake Bay Wilderness Resort has continued to be a family run business. Our focus has been to take good care of our guests so that they'll feel right at home. We try to be as flexible as possible, taking into consideration people´s needs and we do our very best to fulfill special requests. For instance, we will prepare meals for special diets. Furthermore, the hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful locations in the area. It has large open areas with a bounty of beautiful flowers, tropical plants, big mango trees, and beach almond trees that attract the raucous macaws. The property gives you the feel of being in a private island since the river flows along the backside of the property and the whole front side meets the ocean. In addition to this, most visitors come to us by boat and the access by land to the hotel is a small path, unreachable by car, that is submerged in a jungle. Best of all, there is a paradise like view of the bay and ocean, reflecting the deep blue sky and, beyond that, hills bound in lush forests. We offer all sorts of extras that help make our guests' stay more comfortable and enjoyable. For example, we include a full laundry service. Kayaks close to the water are always at our guests' disposal. We have a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, dock, and hammocks to relax under the shade of a tree with the cool ocean breeze blowing on you. From our hotel we take guests on adventures in snorkeling, hiking, diving, canoeing and whale watching. Visitors often see four species of monkeys, sloths, tapir, caiman and a myriad of birds, including the scarlet macaw, mangrove hawk, toucan...
My husband and I wanted a secluded but comfortable retreat from our busy lives, and this resort exceeded our expectations. The staff and owner are warm and friendly. Our room was clean, air conditioned, and maybe 100 feet from the ocean. The grounds are gorgeous and charming, there are mangoes everywhere and birds, even some monkeys. The resort sits right on the main hiking trail and we hiked two days in a row. Hands down, the most beautiful hike I’ve ever been on. We stopped at several secluded beaches along the way. To get there, we took a plane from SJO (Sansa airlines), where a taxi was waiting for us (set up by the resort). From there, you take a three minute boat ride to the resort. It’s quiet this time of year so we didn’t see many other people at all. We got a welcome drink and a snack immediately. That brings me to the food: WOW SO GOOD. Definitely the best food I’ve had at a resort and the best food I’ve had in Costa Rica so far. Food is included (three meals and snacks whenever you want - they even packed us sandwiches for our excursions). Drinks are not and you pay for those at the end of your stay. Alonso (the waiter/bartender) is super nice. The chef is too. Everyone is great. We booked one tour - Corcovado - totally worth the one hour boat ride it takes to get there. We saw tons of birds and two tapirs. We did not do Cano island as we wanted to explore and hike on our own. The days end early as Costa Rica gets dark at 6 pm and you will find yourself tired at 8/9 pm. The WiFi really only works at the office and bar area but that was fine by us - we played cards and downloaded some shows to watch. But we were so beat every night that we fell asleep very early. The pool is great - and the drinks Alonso made us were fantastic. This is definitely a once in a lifetime trip - it’s unique and beautiful but there is a family warmth surrounding the resort.

Pirate Cove is a small hotel, consisting of comfortable cabins bungalows an Ac Room located on Osa Peninsula the least developed and most bio-diversified area of Costa Rica.
My wife and I stayed in the Bungalow for 3 nights and did the San Pedrillo and Sirena Ranger Station tours in Corcovado and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The boat ride from Sierpe to Pirate Cove was a great experience. It was about an hour with half on the River and half in the ocean. A little bumpy, but very scenic. This is a fast boat ride, so don’t expect a tour style ride. The bungalow was very nice with chairs and a hammock on the porch. Shower was Luke-warm, but refreshing after a long day in the sun. There is no A/C in the bungalow, but the ceiling fan was plenty for this time of year. They had a pool, access to a small fresh water lagoon, and the beach. Kayaks were available for the lagoon and we saw monkeys, scarlet macaws, and tapir tracks all on the property. Of the tours, I recommend the San Pedrillo Tour over the Sirena tour. We did see more wildlife at Sirena, but the overall feel is very touristy. We receive more information about park conservation efforts, wildlife info, and just an overall greater appreciation for the diversity in the park at San Pedrillo. Also, you get to swim in the river near a waterfall on the San Pedrillo hike, which was much needed with how hot and humid it was. Be prepared that Pirate Cove is 25-30min walk from the town of Drake Bay, so we recommend having meals included. The food was fantastic, coffee all day, and they had a bar with a good variety of drinks. The kitchen staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating to vegetarians. The kitchen even shared some recipes with my wife. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxing spot following your adventures in the Osa Peninsula area. It is not super touristy, and allows you to appreciate the easy going life-style in the area.

The greatest attractions lie literally right outside your door. Hotel Casa Roland Golfito Resort is the perfect springboard for exploring Costa Rica’s gorgeous southern zone. You can explore Corcovado National Park, which remains a virtually untouched santuary for countless species of animals. Best known area for sport fishing, you can also enjoy nearby activities which include surfing at Pavones world famous left break point waves, explore the rainforest and waterfalls on miles of private trails, seeing the tropical color at Wilson Botanical Gardens or cruising through the Golfo Dulce to watch the dolphins and whales on their annual migration.
The hotel is a relic from the 60's? You could tell it must have been really something in the day. I also suspect that the pandemic has taken it's toll on the hotel. Good things: great bird action while sitting at the pool, beds are good, rooms clean. best shower in Costa Rica/hot and good pressure, great breakfast, Bad: over priced, needs maintenance, public pool, service at pool and restaurant non existent/horrible, no views in the room, dogs barking in room at night in rooms next door, safe was broken, very small TV and only CNN in English, our friends room had a broken phone.
