Celebrating our 30th anniversary, the historic 1840 Captain Linnell House is home to Cape Cod's most distinguished fine dining restaurant as well as an award winning Cape Cod wedding, rehearsal dinner, and corporate venue site. We are located in Orleans, MA around the corner from Skaket Beach, a picturesque setting for a Cape Cod beach wedding ceremony. The Captain Linnell House is chef owned and offers expertly prepared classic fare - from iced Wellfleet oysters, escargot and baby kale salad, to entrees of rack of lamb, Black Angus prime rib, roast duckling with fresh raspberries, scrod n' parchment, and much more. We go as local and organic as possible. A three course $35.00 Prix Fixe Menu is offered from Mid-September thru June. Enjoy dining in one of our unique dining rooms. Our garden room looks out over a spacious lawn with the sunset in the distance. Fireplaces grace the other two. We are off the beaten path but finding us is memorable!
The ambiance, waitstaff and the food at Captain Linnell's House is always such a treat to experience! Their Prime Rib as always, was wonderfully prepared. This is just such a treasure on Cape Cod. Highly recommend.

With the love of chocolate and a loan, we started The Chocolate Sparrow, a simple candy shop, in 1989 in North Eastham. Gradually we learned the art of making fine chocolate and the business of selling it. In 1991 we opened a summer shop in Wellfleet. Two years later in Orleans, we opened The Hot Chocolate Sparrow, a cafe complete with coffee from around the world, desserts of every indulgence, and our own hand-dipped chocolates. Here we could offer specialty coffee drinks in a sophisticated but welcoming atmosphere. We have grown into a local institution, open early morning to late night, every day of the year except Christmas. We created a place where people can connect. Our cafe is recognized Cape-wide, our chocolate is sent all over the country, and our coffee, desserts, and fudge have been voted #1 numerous times in various local surveys. No wonder we are recognized as "The Best on the Lower Cape."
Very popular place for locals and tourists alike. A nice array of premium pastries and beverages, all very good. A small amount of Indoor seating serves the off season crowd makes a nice place to hang out. The chocolates are high-priced and just average at best. Again, a nice variety and assortment, just lacking a rich, creamy chocolate taste. Try Munson's chocolate when you pass through Connecticut.
Located in the center of Orleans, with additional parking and bike trail access right across the street.

It's an ice cream stand staffed by high schoolers on summer break, but it's a Cape tradition. Delicious ice cream and some very nice seating next to the stand. Plenty of parking in the small strip mall lot where it's located. Coffee Oreo is the best (another Cape tradition - any ice cream flavored with coffee); mint is a close second. Milk shakes here are wonderful. The lines in high season are actually part of the experience - a nice way to interact with other vacationers. Great family fun. Directly across from Nauset Farms on the main drag through East Orleans - Beach Road.

I really don't understand the fuss. We bought dirt bombs and scones, and brought them home for breakfast. First of all, who doesn't love a load of cinnamon?! THAT is what dirt bombs have going for them. But honestly, the dirt bombs and the scones were surprisingly flavorless. Plus, each left us with a kind of greasy feeling in our mouths. Maybe it was an off day? Or, maybe it can't really live up to the hype. Either way, I won't be running back anytime soon.

CLOSED FOR THE SEASON - REOPENING in early May. <br>Homemade ice cream and Espresso Bar. Gourmet coffees and specialty drinks available. (Hot or Iced) All our Ice Cream is homemade on premises. Also serving Premium Soft Serve. Refreshing drinks of all sorts are available as well. Milkshakes, Smoothies, Slushes, Floats. You name it we have it. Many Vegan and nondairy choices also available. Non dairy Ice Cream, Non dairy Soft Serve as well as Sorbets. All nondairy items can be used in milkshakes as well as smoothies when combined with your choice of Soy, Almond or Coconut milk.
Stopped in here for ice cream with a vegan in our group. They have several non-dairy choices, including soft serve. Ice cream was pretty good. No seating inside, but tables and chairs outside. Prices not exactly cheap, but comparable to other ice cream shops on the Cape. Overall would rate it average for ice cream place; would give it extra half star if I could for non-dairy options.

We grew up here. We played on the Cape's beaches, we swam in the sound and in the bay, and we savored every hour of the late summer sun. Most importantly, we ate. Burgers, lobster rolls, clam rolls, hot dogs, onion rings, shakes, ice cream...We love the Cape's iconic food. We created the knack with one purpose in mind: to share the food that we grew up with, the food that hits the spot after a day at the beach, the food that defines summers on Cape Cod.
Love the food at this place. The lobster roll is fresh and clean, the fish sandwich is sublime and even the burgers are great! Everything on the menu is worth your time, and I have pretty much had everything on the menu. My only problem with the restaurant is that dogs are allowed in the dining area, which troubles me from a hygiene standpoint, and my son is terrified of dogs, so we cannot eat in if there are dogs there that day...

We visited here for dinner again in September and all was about the same as our last review. The pizza is still excellent and are unusual combinations. We tried another dish an evening special that was good. Still very busy for dinner and does not accept reservations. Service was a bit slow on our last visit.

When we asked the server for a favorite recommendation, she said "the corn beef hash walks out the door." LOL Definitely true! It was amazing. Another favorite on the menu is the Potato Pancakes. I had those and they were delicious, however be aware they are more like a fried potato cake and not like a pancake at all. But delicious!!!! They also have homemade donuts here, and delicious coffee. Definitely a great place for breakfast or lunch!

Normally I feel kind of 'meh' about Emack & Bolio's, but I have changed my tune. I am still dreaming of their salted chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream. Salty, chocolately, peanut buttery perfection. Once I found this flavor, all other ice cream shops paled in comparison on this trip. Worth the price, and the scoops are generous, so I always order a small.

My wife and I are spending the weekend on Cape Cod with friends -- after an outstanding dinner last night in Dennis at Fin, today we had a delightful lunch at The Beacon Room in Orleans. Three of us ordered their cod special -- it was very satisfying; the fourth order their chicken curry sandwich -- she too was pleased. Prices were reasonable and the service was pleasant and attentive. Very much worth a visit!
