Reviews on Asian food in Silverton, Oregon, United States. Silverton is a city in Marion County, Oregon, United States. The city is situated along the 45th parallel about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Salem, in the eastern margins of the broad alluvial plain of the Willamette Valley. The city is named after Silver Creek, which flows through the town from Silver Falls into the Pudding River, and thence into the Willamette River. Silverton was originally called Milford, then Silver Creek; on July 16, 1855, Silver Creek became Silverton. Human habitation of the Silverton area extends back approximately 6,000 years before the present. In historical times, the region was dominated by the Kalapuya and Molala peoples, whose seasonal burns of the area made it plow-ready and attractive to early 19th century Euro-American settlers. Farming was Silverton's first major industry, and has been a dominant land-use activity in and around Silverton since the mid-19th century.

My kung pao with pork was fresh and very good and my husband house fried rice not so much. The rice presentation was very nice, spring rolls good but service was limited.

This place is also known as City Thai Restaurant, so there may be some confusion between the two listings on TripAdvisor. Food was OK, had the Sandees Garden and the Larb salad, which were quite tasty. Prices are diner-friendly.

Will make a special trip to Silverton for a meal at City Thai. The food is always delicious. We especially enjoy their larb, fresh salad rolls, Tom Yum soup, and seafood dishes. Dessert is served with dinner - a small bowl of tapioca with coconut milk which is just enough to quiet your sweet tooth.

I have eaten here three times - each time hopeful that THIS time will be THE time where I walk out thinking - FINALLY - good chinese food in Silverton. It's never happened. Chan's has been here since the Ming Dynasty, I think. And because of it's iconic American/Chinese flavor, and its loyal pack of Silverton natives who have no where else to go for egg rolls, it has stuck. I am pretty sure the people who love it have some secret password they must share with the waitress in order to get something the rest of its passerby patrons never experience.
